My rose allergy was actually a pretty big deal.

Junior year, this law student was pursuing me. I thought he was cute enough to at least hear him out.

But the moment we met, he shoved a huge bouquet of roses into my arms.

Next thing I knew, I was in the ICU fighting for my life.

After I got out of the hospital, I never saw that guy again.

Later, during a school survival training exercise—you know, hunting low-level zombies in the buffer zone outside the safe area—I found a cute guy.

Okay, so this cute guy had a temper. He bit me right away, actually drew blood.

At the time, I was relieved he was human.

After I brought him home, he temporarily moved into my rental apartment.

But here's the weird part.

After he bit me, not only did my rose allergy disappear, but I also started getting prettier and prettier.

So I became a beauty influencer and gradually built up a small following.

I thought everything was going great.

Until the cute guy fully woke up and told me he was actually a high-level zombie. That's when everything went to hell.

I knew I'd mutated.

The two people I was arguing with had gone silent after my comeback.

"Sophia, even if you didn't seduce my boyfriend, you've still seduced plenty of other men. Didn't you just say you have lots of admirers?"

And sneered.

"I'm single, unmarried, and have no boyfriend. What's wrong with having admirers? Should I be like you, picking up trash and treating it like treasure?"

I'd done nothing wrong.

Everyone who confessed to me got rejected.

Not because none of them were my type, but because I wasn't human anymore. I didn't deserve them.

I could hide my zombie identity and live among humans.

But I couldn't ruin some innocent guy's life by making him spend the rest of his days with a non-human.

That's if he loved me unconditionally.

What if one day he stopped loving me and reported me?

I'd be screwed.

But I still needed to put my fake friend in her place.

Otherwise, if she got away with it this time, who knows what dirty tricks she'd try on someone else next time.

Just as I was getting into this heated confrontation, my zombie kid came looking for me.

He immediately gave everyone a demonstration of a high-level zombie's roar.

My fake friend nearly fainted on the spot.

I laughed out loud.

Ha, you thought you could take me down with those weak skills?

But wait.

Wouldn't this expose me too?

Just as I was starting to panic, the zombie kid said he'd come to warn me that a major zombie outbreak was happening.

And I... was the Zombie King?
