The next day, I went to meet the client in Sarah's place.

But the moment I arrived at the hotel, I regretted it.

I immediately called Sarah. "You didn't tell me the client was Liam."

Just as Sarah and I were trying to figure out what was going on, Liam walked up behind me.

"I applied for this meeting. I wanted to see you."

I turned to face him. Liam stood ten feet away, afraid to get closer.

He inhaled greedily, trying to find traces of his scent on me, but he failed.

Right now, I only smelled faintly of red velvet cake.

"I know you don't want to see me, but I can't let you go. My wolf is going insane."

"Elena, give me one more chance. Even if the bond is broken, we can rebuild it."

I rolled my eyes. "A chance for what? A chance to get the hell out?"

Sarah said over the phone, "Let's work with him. Don't you want to see him get his hopes up and then get kicked to the curb?"

"Seeing that arrogant Alpha look of 'I must have you' makes me sick. We need to teach him a lesson."

Originally, my attitude toward Liam had flatlined.
