The Alpha's Hunt Chapter 127

I ran up the stairs and headed down the hallways one after the other. Being mad somehow helped me navigate this place a lot better.

Finally, I saw the bedroom door and rushed over, I flung the door open and Darian didn't so much as flinch as I barged in and slammed it shut behind me.

He looked up from the book he was reading, leaned back on the sofa, and let his eyes fall on mine like I was the crazy one.

“How dare you send him after me like I'm some fucking child who needs a sitter?!” I took my purse and threw it at him.

“Hazel,” 

“Don’t! Don’t you dare try to make this okay!” 

The spine of the book stretched when he put the open book down on the table- spread to the page he was reading. He pushed off the sofa and rose, though I liked it better when he was sitting because only then did I feel like my words were reaching him. Now that he grew to over two meters tall and drew a breath while his chest expanded I found myself taking a step back. 

That alone sent a rush of rage through me and I stomped over, letting the anger take control and I started slamming at his chest. 

“You sent him to babysit me! You stupid…fucking…” spit flew from my mouth and my brows hunched while I screamed words…just words. I didn't even know what I wanted to say I just wanted an apology or an admission of guilt. God, it was like hitting a mountain wall and I was not weak, he was just sturdy as hell.

“You know, that’s probably hurting you more than it’s hurting me,” he licked his lips and watched me like this was some sick form of foreplay. 

“The hours I spent with him thinking we were having fun together- god It’s humiliating, Darian! How can you be so fucking selfish-” 

My knuckles were turning red and drops of sweat fell down the side of my face, moistening my hair.

Guess he had enough, Darian grabbed my wrists and held them against his chest.

“I’m going to need you to shut that beautiful mouth of yours because all this screaming is making me hard as fuck and given the circumstances, I don't think bending you over the couch and fucking you raw would make you like me any more than you already do,” 

A heat wave washed over me and drowned the rush of rage that had taken over. My hands were restrained against him and he pulled me in tight.

“Now listen. Gabe was not babysitting you. I tossed out the question to a room of my most trusted and asked which of them wanted to escort you outside the castle; not because I thought you would run, but because you asked a Demon for a favor- one that’s undoubtedly got his eyes on you and I'm not stupid enough to think that he won't be back to even out the odds,” 

I groaned and pulled my hands down but his grip worked like a chain around my wrists.

“I can take care of myself,” I seethed.

He furrowed his brows and put my hair behind my ear.

“I don't doubt that, but you’re not by yourself anymore. I'm here, and I will never gamble with your life,” 

He wasn't wrong about Zade, even though he helped us out of the Council I'm sure he’d still be back with a bill. 

“And Gabe followed orders like a good little warrior,” I was mortified. I wanted to crawl into a hole and rot there, to be followed around like that thinking we were enjoying each other's company when he was just obeying orders. My skin was crawling and if it were up to me I wouldn't have to see Gabe for at least a week. Darian grabbed my chin and lifted my head.

“Gabe kicked another Guard in the nuts who was about to take the job. Nobody forced him to go with you, he ran out of my office like a kid seeing snow for the first time,” 

Could that be true? 

Darian’s dark eyes were boring into mine like he begged me to see the truth in them. Maybe I did and maybe Gabe did want to spend time with me but that didn't excuse all the scheming behind my back.

“You need to stop making decisions for me,” I started, about to go off on a rampage that would declare all the ways he was fucking up by going behind my back but I barely got through the beginning.

“Deal,” he said, short and simple.

I raised a brow, the heat was consuming me, and his muscles hardened, his eyes darkened and he pressed his thumb over my bottom lip.

“I guess that whole bending you over and fucking you- is still off the table, right?” 

I grinned and stood on my toes, my lips brushed over him and I held his gaze. 

“Only if you want your dick to remain attached to your body,”
