The Alpha's Hunt Chapter 174
3 Years Later.
Hazel's pov
It was the triplet's third birthday and everyone had gathered in the royal garden. Gabe carried Kane like a purse and spun him around, the two were inseparable. Kaitlyn was Kiera’s new doll, she dressed her and did her hair- not that she had a lot of it but it was growing out, and Kaitlyn adored her older sister. Kai was becoming the spitting image of his father, and he loved nothing more than sticking to his side like a shadow and following him wherever he went; Darian kept toys in every office and room of the palace now, so that even if Kai wanted to sit in on a meeting or be close to his father when he worked, he’d still play and be a kid.
Mathilda was the center of all of it, the one they all gravitated toward, and the only one who got those little Lycans into bed or to eat their food when they were being fussy.
Nora, well, she was the cool aunt. The one who played the most and laughed the hardest, the kids loved her to pieces and so did I. Nora and I were tied to the hip, forever if I had anything to say about it, and she had become my confidant regarding all things political and royal. She attended all ceremonies and meetings and took a load off my shoulders whenever I needed to take a step back, as Gabe did for Darian.
But as of today, that’s all changing.
Gabe put Kane on his feet and he wobbled after his uncle as he walked toward me.
“Don’t look so glum, my Queen, this is a celebration.”
I cocked my head and pouted.
“And a goodbye,” I said quietly so he wouldn’t hear my voice break.
“Goodbye, for now, I’ll be back before you know it,”
Gabe was going to travel through Valeria, visit the different packs to make sure that the laws and legislations were all in order, and also scout out the human territory to make sure that everything was calm. Normally someone from the Council would do these trips, it was a mandatory once-a-year precaution after what happened three years ago when they rebelled against Darian.
But the main thing he was going away for, was to find his mate. He woke up one day and said that he was tired of sitting around in the palace or walking in the same pack he had been his whole life and just hope to find her.
It was an itch that he couldn’t get rid of and he wouldn’t rest until he either found her or fell in love with someone on the way.
As a Lycan, he didn’t have a mate like we did, just like Darian- Gabe could mark any girl but only one girl, one time, and then it was sealed forever.
He wanted to find that one girl who stood by him, the one who could bring him to his knees and shatter the iron-clad walls that had shielded him all these years.
This epiphany came to him after a night with the Bell, he said that he hated watching her leave and knowing where she was going next. He wanted the commitment, the person who would wake up with him and go to bed with him, she who would stay.
“I hope you find her,” I said and wrapped my arms around his neck.
“Oh I will, I just hope you like her,” he said and we pulled back.
“Me too, I’ll do a thorough wetting,” I winked. Whoever Gabe brought home, I’m sure I’d love her.
“Mom, it won’t stick!” Kiera whined and I looked as she tried to braid Kaitlyn’s hair in frustration.
“That’s because she doesn’t have any hair, baby. You’ll have to wait until it grows out!” I laughed.
The boys had full heads of hair, it was a pain in the ass to cut it all the time because it fell in their eyes, but it grew like weed on their heads- Kaitlyn’s didn’t, but she had the most beautiful ash-blonde color with caramel highlights that sparkled under the sun.
The flowers around us lit up the greenery with their beautiful colors, and during the triplets' first year, I didn’t want Kiera to feel left out, so she and I would plant bushes and countless different flowers in the garden. The Gardner would instruct us along the way, and eventually, they all bloomed. I did take her to the field with the thousands of flowers during spring that year, and we ran around for hours, bathing in the petals of the flowers and dancing under the sun as it warmed our skin.
After Kiera’s little legs couldn’t run anymore, we fell on the ground and lay in a sea of color and beauty and she grabbed my hand and said ’ Thank you, Mommy’. The tears pressed against my eyes but when I saw her startled face after what she had called me I pushed them down and leaned in closer to her.
I told her that she was welcome and that we would do that run every year for the rest of our lives.
Watching her grow each year into the beautiful young girl she was, took my breath away. She was strong and stubborn with a heart of gold and the best smile in the world. She was my daughter, just as much as Kaitlyn.
Two girls and two boys, but that was enough, no more.
At the request of Darian, the doctor performed a vasectomy. I could not go a lifetime without sex with Darian but I was also never birthing another child again. We had been using his playroom more frequently over the years and it had quickly become one of my favorite rooms in the palace.
Darian reached out his arms, his forearms were bulging from having just trained before the celebration and my son looked like a peanut in his arms. He handed Kai to Mathilda and the two sat around the table and painted cupcakes together.
Darian turned to me, his eyes dark and deep and he rolled back his shoulders as he stalked toward me.
He pressed his lips against my mark and my skin tingled when he dragged his tongue and nibbled across it.
“You need to stop with that look, my love,” he warned, and his eyes darkened on mine.
“What look?” I mused. Somehow, I grew more in love with him each day as the years passed. I was salivating just looking at him, and it was so easy to get him on his knees. During the days I had full reign, he listened to me. I was in charge of most of the decisions that went on around here, and he gladly accepted. But come night, and the roles shifted, Darian dominated with love and care and a glorious, toe-curling pain that I found myself occasionally begging for.
He claimed my lips and grabbed my waist roughly.
“The one that makes me want to throw you over my shoulder and spank your ass until my handprint never fades,”
He groaned into my ear.
“Dad! Play!”
We both took a breath, and I pursed my lips when Kai's gleeful demand reached us.
“Duty calls, Daddy,” I bit down on my lip and dragged my hand across his chest as we turned back to the party.
“Today it’s about them,” he said and dug his fingers into my waist. He brushed his lips over my ear and moved the hair from my neck, “and tonight it is all about you,”
The End.
