The White Moonlight Chapter 10

In the hospital, she would tell anyone who would listen about our story.

"Do you know? My husband was a hero. He rescued people from danger, was attentive and caring toward me, worked hard to make money for me—he was the best husband in the world."

"But... but now, I've lost him. I left him in Myanmar, and I can never get him back. I hate myself so much." As she spoke, she kept slapping herself. The nurses rushed forward to stop her, pressing her down on the bed.

From then on, every day was like this for her—neither fully human nor ghost.

Until one day, Brandon came to find her and take her home.

As soon as they got home, he knelt at her feet and said: "Rebecca, I shouldn't have hit you that day. I was wrong. Can you forgive me?"

But Rebecca acted as if she couldn't see him. She sat there alone, laughing foolishly. As she laughed, she started crying again: "I'm sorry, Daniel. I'm sorry!"

Hearing my name, Brandon immediately flew into a rage.

He grabbed Rebecca by the collar, his voice harsh: "Rebecca Meyer, look clearly! I'm the one by your side. Daniel Brooks is long dead—killed by you!"

"How dare you blame me?" Rebecca's eyes widened. "Do you think that by pushing all the blame onto me, you can go on living carefree?"

Hearing this, Brandon sneered: "Daniel Brooks' death was orchestrated by you. If you hadn't forced him to go to Myanmar and then escaped ahead of him, would he have died? It was you, Rebecca Meyer—you're the murderer!"

Seeing Rebecca ignore him, he said through gritted teeth: "Daniel Brooks is already dead, turned into a terrifying ghost. Do you still love him even like that?"

Before he could finish, Rebecca suddenly turned around and grabbed his throat with force, choking him until he couldn't speak.

Brandon broke free from her grip and kicked her to the ground.

"You crazy woman, you actually tried to strangle me!" He shouted at her, completely devoid of his usual gentleness.

"Rebecca Meyer, remember that coffee shop I had you sell? The buyer was actually the person who killed Daniel Brooks. Their subordinates were arrested, but the ringleader is still out there!"

"It was sold in your name. Do you think the police won't trace it back to you? Hahaha!" After saying this, his lips curled into a smug smile. He was trying to pin all the blame on Rebecca.

Hearing these words, fury blazed in Rebecca's eyes. She pulled a small knife from the table and stabbed viciously toward him.

Brandon reacted quickly and dodged, but the knife still cut his arm.

Rebecca lunged at him to stab again. Brandon grabbed her hair and grappled with her, slapping her hard and shouting: "What right do you have to blame me? We're the same kind of people. You can't escape responsibility for Daniel Brooks' death."

The knife was kicked aside by Brandon. Without a weapon, Rebecca momentarily didn't know what to do.

But when Brandon's attention wavered, Rebecca removed the hairpin from her hair and stabbed it viciously at Brandon's face.

Brandon tried to dodge but exposed his left eye. He couldn't avoid it.

The sharp hairpin went straight into his eyeball.

Brandon clutched his head, letting out screams of agony.

Rebecca was terrified. She seemed not to have expected to hit Brandon's eye. Her whole body shook as she tried to run away.

But the police had already arrived. Neither Rebecca nor Brandon could escape.

Brandon was convicted of illegally buying and selling prohibited drugs with intent to harm others. His crimes were severe, and he was sentenced to death.

While Rebecca hadn't directly participated, she was an accomplice and was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison.
