The White Moonlight Chapter 2
After they escaped, they didn't immediately return home. Instead, they went to Thailand and enjoyed themselves for several days.
Half a month later, to be together more conveniently, Rebecca brought Brandon back to our home.
As soon as I entered, the familiar furniture instantly triggered my nerves. Everything here still carried traces of my life.
When Brandon walked into the room Rebecca and I had decorated together, a sinister look flashed in his eyes, though his expression remained as mild as ever: "Rebecca, shouldn't you let Daniel know? I'm afraid he won't be happy..."
"When did he get a say in this house? He's always gone on missions for months at a time—it's completely normal. Besides, if he dares interfere with me, I'll divorce him." Rebecca waved her hand dismissively.
I froze. I was out there protecting the country, risking my life, and now that had become her reason to look down on me.
Every time I went on a mission, I made sure everything at home was perfectly arranged. Whenever I had a moment, I would call her.
I was terrified that she wouldn't take care of herself properly when she was home alone.
And now Rebecca was bustling around in the kitchen, gently calling Brandon to dinner.
I had never seen her like this.
All she had for me was disdain. When I came home late from overtime, she would always say: "So annoying, working that stupid job and constantly disturbing my rest."
She had never cared about me, let alone personally cook a meal for me. That was completely impossible.
After dinner, Brandon went into the bathroom to wash up. Before long, there was a startled cry from inside.
Rebecca anxiously opened the bathroom door. He was completely naked, leaning weakly against the wall.
Seeing this, Rebecca immediately blushed and reached out to help him up, but the difference in strength between men and women meant she was pulled forcefully back into his embrace.
Brandon's voice carried a hint of grievance: "Rebecca, I don't know if it's a side effect from being kidnapped, but I keep feeling anxious."
Rebecca frowned: "Didn't the doctor say everything was fine? Why are you dizzy? Come on... let me help you up."
"Rebecca, you're the only one who can cure my anxiety." Brandon stared into Rebecca's eyes, pausing for a few seconds before continuing: "If it weren't for Daniel, we should have been together long ago. You should be my wife, so... I want you."
"I want to truly possess you..." Brandon wrapped himself in a towel and stood up from the floor, his gaze burning into Rebecca.
Afraid of witnessing something unbearable, I turned away.
However, Rebecca's voice came from behind me. She said: "Brandon, now isn't the right time."
She actually refused him.
Brandon was obviously somewhat surprised, his tone carrying a hint of accusation: "Why? Rebecca... do you already have feelings for Daniel?"
I held my breath, waiting for her answer.
Rebecca snorted coldly, as if she'd heard a joke: "Him? Ha! How is that possible? He's not worthy."
Then she soothed him: "It's just that destroying a military marriage is illegal. Brandon, I promise you, when Daniel comes back, I'll divorce him, and then we can be together, okay?"
A suffocating pain surged in my chest. I didn't even know what I had been hoping for.
