The White Moonlight Chapter 7

The female officer looked at the person beside her. Marcus nodded at her, and then a file was thrown in front of Rebecca.

Those people in Myanmar were utterly depraved. After I died, they took all kinds of videos and photos, wanting to use them to threaten Brandon and intimidate others.

Unexpectedly, these became the last things I left in this world. In the photos, not an inch of my skin was intact. Both my legs were broken—they had broken them to prevent me from escaping.

Blood and gore covered the ground, long since dried to a dark brown. I lay there limp as a boneless snake, and even in death, my hollow, gray eyes remained open.

Perhaps because the images were too brutal and horrific, Rebecca couldn't help but tremble and nearly vomit after seeing them.

Marcus, usually a man of few words, walked to her side, his eyes bloodshot: "Rebecca Meyer, the captain treated you with his whole heart. He never did anything to wrong you. But what about you? Not only did you drag him to Myanmar for that gold-digger, but you also left him there alone. Your selfish actions meant the captain had to bear the consequences of you and that bastard's escape."

"Honestly, the only mistake the captain made in his life was marrying you. You disgust me. I used to call you sister-in-law every day, but someone like you... doesn't deserve it."

Rebecca stood there in stunned silence, her eyelids hanging low.

Finally, she swept everything onto the floor: "Impossible! This must be fake. What did Daniel give you to make you deceive me like this?"

She looked terrifying. After speaking, she knocked over her chair and strode out. Marcus tried to stop her, but another officer held him back, telling him to let her cool down.

Once outside in her car, Rebecca rested her head on the steering wheel. The car was completely silent. I watched her and suddenly saw tears streaming down the contours of her face.

In the end, she believed the truth that I was dead. I couldn't describe what I was feeling. Did she ever love me?

If not, then what was she doing now?

After a long time, she finally turned the car around and went home. As soon as she arrived, she found the coffee shop employee waiting for her at the house.

The employee said that after Brandon sold the coffee shop, he had collected deposits from several other stores. Now those people were demanding their money back, but they couldn't find him.

The implication was clear: Brandon was using her name to swindle money and might disappear with it at any moment.

Hearing this, Rebecca completely wilted. I watched her sit on the sofa in silence for a long time before making another phone call.

"Brandon, can you come home and keep me company?" After the other person responded, she hung up expressionlessly.

I felt something was off but couldn't put my finger on it.

Brandon arrived quickly. As soon as he entered, he put on fake concern: "Rebecca, the dead can't come back to life. You can't punish yourself."

"We should live our own lives well. Now no one can stop us from being together. Let's go get our marriage license tomorrow!"

I watched coldly. I had barely been dead any time at all, and this pair of adulterers was already eager to get married?

"Slap!" A crisp sound rang out. Rebecca had actually slapped Brandon across the face. "You lied to me, didn't you? When you used me to trick Daniel into going there, you clearly promised he wouldn't die. So what's going on now?"

"Were you planning to run off with all the money? Damn it! You really conned me good." Rebecca exposed Brandon's lies one by one.

Seeing he was exposed, Brandon stopped pretending. He kicked Rebecca in the stomach and sneered: "You really are naive. No, you're stupid. You chose to believe me yourself—who can you blame for that!"

"I just played the victim a little, and you forced your own husband to risk his life alone. Essentially, you're no different from me—we're both the same kind of bad. Now you're putting on this performance of deep affection—for whose benefit?"

He completely gave up, viciously jabbing at Rebecca's pain.

Rebecca collapsed on the floor, trembling all over, tears streaming down her face, her entire being ashen.

After a long moment, she finally roared: "Get out!"
