Lily's eyes flashed with delight.

But Ethan sneered.

"It's just an act. Do you have to take it so seriously?"

I ignored him, turning instead to Lily.

"You don't agree? Your wife might cry."

His friends started egging him on.

"Yeah, Ethan, what are you afraid of? The ex can't escape your palm anyway."

"Women like that, give them a few days and they'll behave."

"Ethan, don't let Lily down. She's waited for you all these years. You have to think only of Lily during this time."

Ethan's face darkened. He stared at me for a long moment.

Then laughed mockingly.

"Fine. You have ten minutes, Chelsea Lin. Let's see how you handle yourself after a week."

Even now, he still believed I'd come back to him.

But I didn't explain.

I walked straight to the bedroom and started packing my things.

I left everything Ethan bought me, taking only what was mine.

It took just one small suitcase to hold all my years here.

After a moment's hesitation, I still left the divorce certificate in the drawer.

At the door, Lily blocked my path.

"I'm the mistress of this house now. You're taking things from my home—I need to inspect them."

I didn't want to tangle with her.

I let her rummage through my suitcase.

After checking and finding only worthless items, she pursed her lips.

Her gaze fell on me.

"Some people with sticky fingers like to hide valuables in their clothes. Take off your clothes."

I frowned in disgust.

"Don't push it."

Lily acted coy toward Ethan.

"Honey, aren't I the lady of the house now? When strangers come in, naturally I need to inspect thoroughly."

Ethan reached over and yanked off my jacket.

"If you have nothing to hide, let Lily check."

I slapped Lily across the face.

"Get lost!"

A vicious glint flashed in Lily's eyes.

"If you won't cooperate, I'll have to call people to help me."

Ethan's friends surrounded me.

"Let us search and see if you stole anything."

"Such smooth skin. Ethan, you're one lucky guy."

I clutched my torn, tattered clothes in humiliation.

"Ethan, you're just going to let them humiliate me like this?"

"How is this humiliation? You let your husband see, now you can let his brothers see too. Think of it as a bonus."

Ethan stared at Lily's smiling face, entranced.

He unconsciously echoed her words.

"Right, Lily's right. My brothers are like me—no different. Just let them search."

Hearing Ethan's words, they became more brazen.

Lily even reached inside my clothes, pulling at my bra strap.

I struggled desperately, but she shoved me to the ground.

Just then, Buddy suddenly ran over.

He bit down hard on Lily's leg.

"Ahh!!"

She screamed.

Blood dripped from her foot.

Ethan frantically tried to pull Lily free.

He kicked Buddy again and again.

I threw myself over to protect Buddy.

"No! Ethan, are you insane? Buddy's been with you for so many years!"

Watching Buddy lie whimpering on the ground, gradually losing life, Ethan looked somewhat regretful.

But that tiny bit of compassion was instantly washed away by Lily's crying.

He held Lily.

Glaring at me furiously.

"It's just an animal. How could it be more important than Lily?"
