Saving Tragedy Chapter 73

*****Ashton's POV*****

Two whole hours had passed as I just sat here watching the blood flow along from my arm to hers - feeling the exhaustion hit my body like a tow truck.

But I refused to sleep, not until I had seen her awake and had spoken to her... we had been separated for far too long!

It had been days since I had gotten a proper sleep, with the whole incident of Rose and Lydia being taken from us... but I quickly reminded myself that they were both safe now, back where they belong, and that was all that mattered!

The least of my worries right now was my messed up sleeping pattern!

"Hey bro... how you holding up?" I look up to find Sawyer poking his head around the door as I shrug meekly and continue to watch the blood flow.

"Doesn't seem to be working!" I grumble, as Sawyer chuckles at my impatience and closes the door behind him.

"It will... just give it a bit more time..." He presses, taking a seat in the room to keep me company which at this point I didn’t mind.

I was exhausted, feeling myself beginning to get sluggish and grumpy from the lack of sleep but I didn't care - that was the least troubling thing on my mind right now.

"In the nicest way possible - you look like shit Ashton!" Sawyer suddenly states, laughing out as I shoot him a hard dagger stare.

He's an ass!

"Fuck you!" I retort, causing him to laugh more right before we hear a tiny groan - one that definitely didn't come from me nor him.

I stand instantly, wide eyed and looking down at Rose, seeing her laying there in the same still silence from before.

Was I hearing things? Was my sleep depravation making me go insane now?

I think, before Rose again makes a small mumble and scrunches up her nose this time showing a sign of movement.

Nah she definitely just did that!

"Sawyer press the button! Get the nurse back in here, she’s waking up!" I demand, as he jumps up from his chair and moves to notify her.

She's waking up! Finally!

It doesn't take the nurse long before she enters the room, moving to Rose's bedside instantly and checking her stats.

Rose groans again, louder this time, as she moves her head and the nurse smiles down at her before smiling over at me which helped to calm my frantic breathing.

"It's working! I'll keep your blood flowing to her for another ten minutes and then she should be fine on her own after that. How are you doing? Feel any different?" The nurse turns to question me as I shake my head immediately.

"No I'm fine, just do what's best for her!" I state, before seconds later Rose begins to open her tired eyes, blinking and scrunching them up at the bright light in the room.

"Hey! I'm right here Rose! You're doing great!" I tell her, moving to take her soft hand in mine as she cranks her neck around to face me - offering me a small smile once her eyes focus fully.

“Ash… Ashton…” She mumbles, her voice groggy but I didn’t care - at least I could talk to her.

“You’re safe now, it’s all over!” I tell her, watching her lips pull in to a gentle smile as she sighs in relief.

“We will give you two a minute alone to talk!” The nurse nods her respect, as Sawyer follows her out of the room too and closes the door over softly behind him.

She attempts to sit up, before groaning out loudly as her body fights back in achy protest.

I instantly move to push her gently by the shoulders to lay her back down on the bed - not wanting her to harm herself any more as she eventually gives in.

Her eyes wander around the room before they find the tubes connecting us both, continuing to pump my blood in to her own veins to help strengthen her again.

“Will… this bring Aurora back?” She asks sadly, her eyes looking panicked as I hush her and circle my thumb across the back of her hand to calm her back down.

“So she still isn’t back yet huh? It should help resurface her soon, yes! When wolves get injured pretty badly it’s common to lose touch with your wolf for a couple of days so don’t panic too much about it!” I nod and explain, trying my best to make her feel better as she listens and nods once at my information.

A moment of silence falls between us, as I bend down to place my lips against her knuckles before moving to kiss the top of her head.

“I’m so happy to have you back Rose, you don’t understand…” I begin, as Rose offers me a smile but I can sense from the look on her face that there was something else playing on her mind beneath the surface.

“What’s bothering you?” I press, knowing there was something she wasn’t saying.

“I… have something to tell you Ash… it’s pretty big too!” She begins, as I remain silent and wait for her to go on - watching her inhale a deep breath.

“It’s about Seraphina and Tarrick…” Rose trails off, as I furrow my brows and frown at the mere mention of the pair who almost nearly sacrificed her right before my very eyes.

I can’t help the protective spike that rises from within me at the mention of them… and if I could kill the pair of them ten times over again I would!

“They are both dead now angel… you don’t have to worry about them doing anything psychotic to you ever again!” I state, proud of my actions and proud of the fact I had managed to rid the world of the both of them.

There were no regrets this time around - none!

“It’s not that… I think you should know something, and it’s pretty intense…” Rose trails off, chewing her lip as I watch the action and refrain my mind from going to dirty thoughts.

Get a grip of yourself… this is a serious conversation!

“Seraphina and Tarrick… are my birth parents Ashton… they gave me away because they thought I was a curse and that I would kill them both - which funnily enough I sort of did get them killed didn’t I?!” Rose takes her time, as her words stab at me like a pin to a voodoo doll.

Did I hear her right?

That satanic duo were actually her birth parents?!

I don’t believe that they could have even created something as pure as Rose! There was no way… but thinking on it further, there was a slight resemblance between them that sent a chill down my spine…

“Are you sure about that?! Did they tell you that themselves? How do you feel about it all? That’s a lot to digest Rose… are you ok with it?” I find the questions bubbling out from my mouth; unsure of what to say but not wanting to stay silent either.

“I’m ok, at least I am now! It sort of made sense, when they told me the story of how I ended up at the Moon Lust pack… they were more offended that I was born a runt above all else though - of course!” Rose scoffs and rolls her eyes, as I shake my head at the audacity.

It is Rose who should be ashamed of them!

“It’s for the best that you barely knew them Rose… you have a real family now with myself, Sawyer, Hunt, Ruth, Oliver and even Lydia now too! Not to mention that we will make our own little family together one day!” I ramble, not wanting her to be disheartened by the incident.

She has a family, despite it not being by blood - we were there for her til the damn end!

“Thank you Ashton… honestly, for everything. You changed my life and gave me hope… not to mention that you saved me from my death twice - I seriously owe you my life!” Rose breathes out heavily, feeling slightly overwhelmed in her reflection on everything that had unravelled over the past few days.

I shake my head, knowing that she owes me nothing. It is I that should owe her the world - for walking in to my pack and helping to fix mine.

“Rose, I love you.” I tell her with conviction, as her eyes widen and she opens and closes her mouth momentarily to process the heartfelt statement.

“I… I love you too Ash, thank you…” Rose’s eyes water slightly, but she smiles wide and looks truly happy so I take the tears as a good sign.

At least now, there was hope for our future.

I can at least help to make up for the years she has lost at the expense of Seraphina and Tarrick… it was now her time to shine.
