Saving Tragedy Chapter 89

*****Ashton's POV*****

Two hours had passed since we first started our operation to clean up Jacob's pack.

Finally, we all stood back to find that the Grand hall looked presentable once again and that not one piece of broken glass was in sight.

The shattered remnants of chaos had been cleared away, and rows of chairs were now neatly arranged, ready for the large pack meeting to take place. It was a small victory in our mission to rebuild what had been shattered by Jacob's reign of terror...

As we stood in the newly restored hall, a sense of accomplishment washed over me. The resilience of our group was evident in the way we had worked together to overcome the mess left behind.

Rose, Lydia, Ruth, Oliver, and Doctor Carter had all played their part, working tirelessly to restore order to the hall. Rose had kept herself busy with Daisy, ensuring the little pup stayed out of harm's way while we worked and the others poured their sweat in to fixing the place up to a high enough standard to greet the pack members.

As the minutes ticked by, anticipation hung in the air, mingled with a hint of nervousness as I began to pace the room. The success of our mission would depend on the reactions of the pack members we had summoned to the meeting. Would they be receptive to our efforts to rebuild, or would they resist change, clinging to the remnants of Jacob's previous rule?

Soon enough, Sawyer's group returned, followed shortly by Hunt and then Jonno, each leading a small contingent of former pack members.

As they filed into the hall, being the first to arrive from Jacob's pack, I couldn't help but notice the mixed expressions on their faces. Some looked wary, unsure of what to expect, while others appeared resentful, their loyalty to Jacob now evidently shattered as they spat upon his name.

I approached the newcomers, extending a hand in greeting as I welcomed them to the meeting. "Thank you for coming early," I said, my tone sincere. "Your presence here tonight is a crucial step in rebuilding our pack, and I appreciate your willingness to join us in convincing the rest." I state, as they all respectfully nod to show their submission to my new ideas.

"We understand that the past few weeks have been tumultuous for all of you," I continued, my voice steady. "But believe me when I say that your previous Alpha even caught me off guard with his actions! But tonight, we have an opportunity to move forward together, to build a stronger, more united pack for you all - with a proper leader!" I confirm, as their faces light up ever so slightly.

As I spoke, I noticed a few heads nodding in agreement, a flicker of hope igniting in their eyes. It was a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

"Now, I'd like to hear from each of you," I said, turning to address the former pack members gathered before me. "Tell us about your previous roles in Jacob's pack, and how you envision your future within our new community. Your insights and experiences will be valuable to us as we work to rebuild." I encourage, ushering them all to come down to the front to take their seats.

One by one, they began to speak, sharing their stories and aspirations for the future.

"I was the Beta, believe it or not, and I had no fucking idea about any of it! I feel sort of ashamed to admit it! He even had me investigating in to the missing children, sending you paperwork and updates when it was him behind it all along! I can only apologise to you Alpha, as I now realise that Jacob was getting me to send you in the wrong direction without me even knowing it!" One of the men stand up and speaks out with confidence, as my eyes widen at the revelation.

I recognised him now that he had introduced himself, he was fairly new to the Beta role, with Jacob's previous Beta being killed in a rogue attack three or four years ago.

It made sense that Jacob would be wary of trusting such a young and fresh Beta and therefore he had used him instead to carry out his dirty work.

With that, I approach him, watching him tense ever so slightly before I put my hand out to shake his - offering my sympathy as his shoulders relax at the gesture.

"I appreciate honesty, and how you were treated by your previous Alpha is no reflection of you. We will be looking for a new Beta, and I'll keep your name noted for the position!" I state, as the man thanks me briefly and returns back to his chair.

We continued on, meeting the group who had volunteered to come early, learning that some had held positions of leadership under Jacob's rule, while others had served faithfully as hunters, caregivers, doctors and protectors. Despite their diverse backgrounds, they all shared a common desire for change, a longing for a brighter and more free future - free from the shadows of the past.

As I listened to their voices, I couldn't help but feel a surge of optimism. With their help and support, Jacobs other pack members would hopefully follow suit and this pack will rise from the ashes, stronger and more resilient than ever before...

Tonight marked the beginning of a new chapter for Jacob's pack, and I was determined to lead us forward into a future filled with hope and possibility.

"The others are arriving now Ash!" Hunt calls to me, as I nod and gesture for him to bring them in.

I turn to find Rose, ensuring that she was away from harm in the event that anything was to happen - with my guards surrounding her.

Ok... we can do this...

As the rest of Jacob's pack members filed into the grand hall, I couldn't help but notice the masses of curious females and males, their expressions a mixture of uncertainty and fear. They eyed the room cautiously as they took their seats, their murmurs filling the air like a soft hum of anticipation.

The room quickly filled up, surprising me with the turnout. Some were forced to stand along the edges of the room, a testament to their eagerness for change and their desire to be a part of this new beginning.

They were once loyal pack members, left without a leader for the past few weeks - unsure of what to do moving forward.

I watched as they whispered amongst themselves, their voices hushed but filled with nervous energy. It was clear that they were unsure of what to expect from this meeting, but their presence here spoke volumes about their willingness to embrace the possibility of a fresh start.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward to address the gathered crowd in the centre, with Sawyer close by as he prepared for his big moment.

"Thank you all for coming," I began, my voice projecting across the room. "I know that the past few weeks have been difficult for all of us, but tonight marks a new beginning for Jacob's pack - a better beginning might I say!" I state loudly, silencing the room to the point that you could have heard a pin drop.

It was hard to tell the reactions of the pack members just yet, whether they would be willing or not to accept such a major change…

“I, Alpha Ashton Silver, which most of you will know me as the Alpha to the countries strongest pack - The Royal Blood Pack, have decided to step up to offer this pack a great opportunity to thrive and progress forward to create a better future for you all!” I speak with pride, as some of the pack members eyes widen at the mention of my name.

Most had probably never seen me in person, only heard about me or my packs victories - and I hoped that through my introduction, I could gain their respects.

“I have carefully thought about how to tackle this packs problem, following on from the horrific crimes that your ex Alpha Jacob had knotted himself in. But I want to make one thing clear, his actions are NO reflection on any of you!” I yell, as many heads in the room begin to nod in agreement of what I was saying.

“What he did, is none of your faults, and therefore, none of you should suffer for it! I have carefully constructed a plan to make this pack better… which is why today, I want to appoint a new Alpha to help lead this pack forward!” I break the news, as the crowd stare on at me in silence, unsure of how to react just yet.

We can only introduce Sawyer and take it from there…

“The man I have chosen is the perfect man to step up and lead this pack forward - and I can assure every single one of you that this pack will have my continued support and protection as long as you all welcome him in as your new Alpha! I would like for you all to meet Alpha Sawyer Kingston…” I trail off, moving my hand to the left as Sawyer walks forward confidently.

He looked the part, and he smiled and waved around at the room to show his kinder side.

How are they going to take this news…
