The Blind Dragon Chapter 4

When Elena and my brother appeared again, the banquet was already half over.

She came looking for me, seeming to be in a good mood.

The sight of us standing together drew quite a few comments.

One playboy sidled up to me with a mocking smile. "Well, well! The sun must be rising in the west today—I'm actually seeing Adrian and Elena together."

"Elena, sweetheart, let me ask you—someone as beautiful as you, are you really willing to settle for a bastard with impure blood?"

Elena pressed her lips together and said nothing.

He laughed even more obnoxiously. "Why don't you come with me instead?"

I rolled my eyes and swung my fist straight into his face.

"You hit me?"

I tilted my head and hit him again.

"Damn it, Adrian, you dare hit me again?"

I laughed coldly. "Keep barking and I can beat you until you shut up. Want to try?"

The commotion quickly drew the attention of our elders.

My mother—or rather, my mother in name only—wore a mocking expression. I didn't care.

My father slammed down his teacup and roared, "What's wrong with you? Hitting people without even asking questions first? I wasted my time raising you!"

Mother pretended to tug at Father's sleeve. "The boy's still young and doesn't know better. Why are you so angry?"

Father grew even angrier, snorting coldly. "Still young? He's two thousand years old! Spending all day chasing after your wolf clan bride, not doing anything useful, and not even appreciated for it. I'm embarrassed for you. Can't you learn from your brother? Sometimes I wonder if you're even my son."

I listened to Father's tirade expressionlessly, suddenly remembering that in my past life, every time I made a mistake, he would say one particular thing while scolding me:

"A child born of a serpent-dragon will never amount to anything."

The playboy now added fuel to the fire. "Uncle, you have to stand up for me! Adrian's a violent maniac. All I did was say hello to his bride, and he attacked me like this!"

"I'm violent?" I spoke slowly, with mockery in my voice. "You called me a bastard again and again, insulting the dragon clan. If anything, I went easy on you."

That made Father frown. He was a man who cared deeply about appearances.

Ignoring the murmurs around us, a cold smile touched my lips. I knelt down before them calmly and bowed my head.

"Father is right. I've been too obsessed with beauty and neglected much."

"Elena and I have no real feelings for each other. She already has someone else in her heart."

"I'm willing to let them be together. I hereby sever my relationship with Elena."

The entire hall erupted in shocked whispers.
