The Blind Dragon Chapter 7
The black scales appeared. Rain looked at me with a complex expression.
"You're Sebastian's brother?"
I nodded. "I knew I'd found the right person."
She scoffed. "You want to marry me? Did I hear that right?"
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Lucky us—my enemy is also Sebastian. I need an ally."
She looked surprised, frozen for a moment before asking, "You know about my background?"
"You're the mermaid bride Sebastian abandoned, and because of that incident, your clan has been under his control ever since. You have several sisters still suffering in his estate. Am I wrong?"
She was silent for a long time before finally saying, "I'll take this deal."
"Pleasure doing business with you."
I brought Rain back to the Divine Clan, heading straight for the High Priest.
The paperwork went smoothly.
Shortly after returning to the Divine Hall, we ran into Elena, who'd rushed over anxiously.
She stared gravely at my hand clasped with Rain's.
After a moment, she walked toward me step by step, a slight smile on her face.
"Adrian, it's been a while."
I let Rain go ahead and stayed with Elena outside the hall.
I got straight to the point. "What do you want?"
She lowered her eyes, saying softly, "Adrian, I came to apologize."
"You were always so good to me. I shouldn't have been so cold to you. I know I was wrong."
I laughed coldly. "Didn't you say you didn't care about me?"
Her smile froze. "So you did hear what I said that afternoon. I was just talking nonsense. Don't take it to heart. I've always had feelings for you."
"Can you give me another chance?"
I raised an eyebrow, watching her. Under her expectant gaze, I spoke slowly, "But what can I do? I already have a beast companion."
She was silent for a moment, then looked up decisively. "I don't mind sharing her with you."
"But I mind. You should go."
Her eyes filled with resentment. "You never treated me this way before!"
"Is it all because of that mermaid?"
"So what if she wears a veil? I saw her face—it's covered in scars."
"How can someone like that think she belongs with the Divine Clan?"
I frowned, my voice cold. "Elena, this has nothing to do with Rain. Watch your words."
She left in a huff.
When I returned, I told Rain, "I'm ready to make my second move."
