The Killer I Know Chapter 13

Daniel listened carefully to my story, my past.

"So Number One was your father. What about Number Two?"

I showed a relieved expression and continued, "The day before I went abroad, I was talking to Natalie by her bedside. She woke up."

"So because you were replacing her, you killed her," Daniel rebuked.

I smiled and said mockingly, "Interrupting others is very rude."

"She begged me to kill her," I said quietly and calmly.

"Why?"

"In that car accident, she lost both legs." A thin mist formed in my eyes.

"She was so talented at dancing. She was so beautiful when she danced, so beautiful." I stared blankly at Daniel, a tear rolling down from the corner of my eye.

"We talked for a long time after that. Then, on that clear night, she left me forever."

"So she's Number Two," Daniel concluded.

"So, Detective Rivers, does this story sound familiar?"

I gazed at him with cold eyes.

His expression gradually became panicked. "I... I... are you saying the person who hit Natalie was me?" he asked in astonishment.

"So you do remember. Everything now stems from you."

I paused. "So you must be the period that ends all of this."

Daniel fell silent.

Ethan reminded from the side, "You have eight minutes left."

"Before I die, will you solve the puzzle for me?" Daniel looked at me with a dazed expression, his tone remarkably gentle.

"Fine, go ahead."

"Why kill the other seven people? Do they also have so-called 'sins'?"

I said appreciatively, "Ah, now there's our law enforcement prodigy, getting to the point."

I sat down. "The first body you discovered—Marcus Hartley. Sound familiar?"

"Your brother?"

I thought for a moment, then refuted, "He doesn't deserve to be my brother."

"Why visit the sins of adults upon a child?"

I lifted my skirt, revealing my right thigh. "Remember when you asked how I got this? He burned me."

Daniel's eyes shifted from anger to calm.

I continued, "He grew up to be just like his father—not even human. A bastard among bastards."
