The Killer I Know Chapter 8
"I didn't expect him to love you so much."
I didn't need to look to know it was Ethan.
I opened my eyes slightly. He was leaning against the doorframe.
I smiled faintly. "You can stay in the guest room temporarily. It's safe."
"When do you plan to reveal everything?"
"Hmm..."
I sat up, adopting a thoughtful expression, frowning slightly, my eyes carrying a hint of coldness.
"Don't rush. The next one is him."
Ethan rolled his eyes lightly and said with some disappointment, "So we have to wait another two months."
"It'll be quick."
During those two months, Ethan lived right under Daniel's nose, occasionally moving between my apartment and the one across the hall.
Yet Daniel never noticed a thing.
One day, I joked with Ethan: "Does he really deserve the title of 'law enforcement prodigy'?"
But Ethan's answer was something I'd never considered.
"Because he loves you so much, he trusts you completely. He would never suspect you."
I paused, then laughed.
"Too bad he loved the wrong person."
"Tomorrow's the 25th," Ethan reminded me.
"I remember," I replied coldly.
At that moment, the sound of keys in the lock rang out again.
Ethan and I made eye contact, then I calmly walked out of the room. "You're home early tonight."
"I brought you cheesecake." Daniel held it up happily, showing me.
I replied cheerfully, "I knew you loved me the most."
I took the cake joyfully and walked toward the kitchen, my expression instantly turning cold.
I elegantly took out the sharp long knife and stared at the blade, wiping it repeatedly.
"In a few hours, you'll be inside his body," I thought.
"You're using a meat knife to cut cake?" He suddenly appeared in the kitchen, looking puzzled.
"They're all washed anyway."
I answered casually, pressing hard as I cut the cake.
"You're really putting effort into cutting that cake. Let me do it." He took the knife from my hand.
I smiled as I watched him.
"What are you smiling about?"
I smiled because in a few hours, he would die by this very knife.
"Just watching how considerate you are."
