The Killer I Know Chapter 5

Ding-dong

The doorbell rang. I opened the door.

"Hello, Ms. Morrison. You called for a courier pickup?"

I answered cheerfully, "Yes, I've been waiting for you."

I pointed to the blue box by the door. "This one might be a bit heavy."

"No problem. The address you provided is the City Police Station, is that correct?"

"Yes, that's the address."

"Local delivery will arrive before 3 PM. Have a nice day."

I closed the door.

"Daniel, the game begins."

After a nap, I woke to find dozens of missed calls on my phone, all from Daniel.

I called him back, my voice drowsy. "What's wrong? I just woke up."

"I'm at your door."

"Oh, you're back."

He opened the door frantically. I walked out of the bedroom, and he looked me up and down.

"Claire, are you okay?"

Several other officers followed behind him.

I asked with a bewildered expression, "What's going on? What happened?"

"The 1/27 killer has struck again, and the perpetrator has very likely targeted you. This time the victim was a woman. You might be on his kill list now."

I displayed an extremely frightened demeanor and threw myself into his arms.

"Begin," Daniel said to the other officers.

They started examining the house for evidence, not even sparing the dust.

Afterward, I was taken to the station for questioning.
