POV Savannah Bowen

He simply nodded.

He just confirmed. I reflected, stunned by his cynicism.

"You're going to become my wife and bear my heirs. As my companion, you'll have some benefits. You'll be respected by the pack's males and live a good life."

"I hope you give males to my son, unlike your mother, who only managed to produce females," Caspian cut in.

"I'm not weak like James, father," Hunter mocked. "We won't just have two pups. If necessary, Savannah will spend the rest of her days spitting out my heirs, until she gives me a male."

"I am not an incubator," I growled, my eyes burning with rage.

"Not yet," he agreed, uncrossing his arms and raising a finger at me. "But soon you will be."

I took a step closer to him, lifting my lips into a fleeting smile.

"I’ll tell you something, Hunter. I will never forgive you. Never," I whispered, each word coming out more gritted than the last. "I don’t even like you. I despise you, I’m disgusted by you."

"But you loved me once," he interrupted.

"Love is too strong a word. I just accepted my fate as your wife and clung to a male that never existed, who promised me a life better than the one I had."

He laughed.

"You’re so gullible, Sava, that you fell in love with Fenrir. A wolf who, right now, is with his mistress, celebrating the fact that you disappeared from his life."

I tried to ignore the revolt in my stomach and the weight in my chest. I swallowed, wetting my dry throat.

"At least I know that everything I lived with Fenrir was real. I fell in love with a real male, not an image shaped to deceive me," I said in a hoarse voice. "He was honest with me in every moment, good or bad. I know who he is, in every second, in every reaction. And still, I fell in love. I don’t care if he doesn't feel the same, if he's with Marilyn now, because I know that what I felt was real, so much different from how it was with you."

"I'm being real with you now."

I let out a laugh.

"For me, you can die, Hunter!" I yelled, losing control. "Don’t compare yourself to Fenrir, don’t try to find a way back into my heart, because it doesn’t exist anymore."

His eyes glowed dark brown, veins pulsing along his neck.

He lunged at me and punched me so hard that I turned my face to lessen the impact. My face hurt, my teeth cut my lip, and blood dripped from my nose.

"Shut that bitch mouth of yours!" He pointed a finger at me. "And you’re going to learn to respect me."

I looked at him with tear-filled eyes.

"Hit me as many times as you want, it doesn't change the fact that I hate you and will always be in love with Fenrir."

He smiled.

"You’re so silly, Sava. I thought you were smarter, but I was wrong, you’re still the same idiot, always deluded." He rose above me, grabbed my hair, and forced my face to the side. "Keep fooling yourself with a wolf who doesn't care about you, who despises you, just like me." He laughed. "You’re so useless, you opened your legs for two alphas and couldn’t win either."

"Fuck you," I growled.

"Wanna know? I thought you were worth something, that you meant something, but looking at you now, I see I was wrong." He shook his head. "If you were that important, that alpha would come after you. And since you’re nothing, just a stubborn bitch, you’ll entertain my pack."

He let me go, before throwing another punch at my face. I became dizzy from the hit, holding onto the counter to stay upright.

"At least, I don’t chase people and force them to be with me," I retorted, licking my bloodied teeth. "I have enough self-respect not to subject myself to this."

Caspian made a noise in his throat.

"Hunter, my son, this girl can't keep answering you like that. You’re an alpha and the future leader of the packs, everyone must respect you, especially your female." He snorted. "Break her teeth, maybe that will shut her up."

Hunter looked at me, then punched my face a third time. I couldn't hold on and fell onto the floor, my face throbbing and blood in my mouth.

"She’ll get ugly, without teeth, I can’t do this," he answered, looking down at me.

"You need to do something."

I touched the cold floor with my palms, trembling and nauseous. My vision was blurry, and one of my eyes was starting to swell. I didn’t need to look in the mirror to know there were bruises on my cheeks.

I stared at Hunter’s shins, curled up, afraid he would kick me. My nails involuntarily elongated, as did my fangs. I didn’t understand what was happening, but I knew it was my wolf reacting in some way.

Then, before I could control it, I lunged at Hunter and sank my teeth into his thigh, ripping blood and flesh. He screamed and grabbed my hair, pulling me up.

"You bitch!" he howled, his jaw locked with pain.

He dragged me by my hair out of the house, pulling me roughly. I scraped my knees on the floor and felt my scalp burning. Some pack members who were wandering nearby stopped to stare at the scene of public humiliation.

I didn’t cry, nor did I beg him to stop.

I held the hand he had tangled in my hair, trying to lessen the impact of the pain. I walked in unsteady steps, trying not to drag my knees and hurt myself further.

"You’ll stay in one of the barns. Want to act like a bitch? Then you’ll be treated like one."

"Anywhere, as long as it’s far away from you, you fucking bastard!" I hissed back.

He dragged me through a part of the village, on purpose, so everyone could see him humiliate and subjugate me. He threw me hard against the ground.

"I’m not going to rip your teeth out, Savannah, but I’m going to rip your tongue out." He kicked my face with his heavy boots, cutting my lips and hurting my nose.

I closed my eyes and let the tears roll down the sides of my face, smearing my bloodied cheeks.

This wasn’t the life I wanted, it didn’t even come close to being decent. I couldn’t spend the rest of my days like this, being mistreated and humiliated. Hunter would rape me to have his heirs, beat me when I didn’t behave, and subjugate me whenever he wanted. I would be an incubator who births pups and a punching bag.

I felt so sorry for Selena, but... death was my only salvation. I wouldn’t live the next four hundred years like this. No way.

"This is what happens when a bitch disobeys in this pack!" he shouted, pointing at me, stretched out on the ground. "Females, understand your places and preserve yourselves."

I sat on my knees, ignoring the pain I felt. With blurred vision and my face throbbing, I lifted my chin and glared at him, letting the blood drip and stain my clothes.

I was driven by pure hate.

Dying was inevitable.

I wanted him to remove the mark and free Fenrir, then I’d finish the rest myself.

I had nothing left to lose, so I’d have fun with the little I had left.

"You know why your mother needed a lover?" I asked, raising my voice so everyone close by could hear.

"What are you talking about?" he spat, veins popping on the sides of his neck and color flushing his face. His fangs gleamed through his parted lips. He was about to lose control completely. Perfect.

A sinister laugh shot from my cut lips.

"She needed a lover because your father has a small dick, just like yours!" I spat, laughing even louder. "It wasn’t until I was with Fenrir that I noticed this anomaly in you. I think it’s genetic, you know? A family problem."

Hunter punched me again.

I fell backwards to the floor, hitting my head with a thud.

"That’s enough, Savannah! You’ll serve to entertain my pack."

"As long as they have bigger dicks than yours!" I provoked.

And I would continue answering each of his insults, fighting back in front of his wolves, until he lost his mind and ended my life, freeing me from his constant presence.

With a growl, he raised his leg and struck my face with his heavy foot. The excruciating pain hit me, and then I blacked out.
