Into the Alpha’s Keep Chapter 108: 108
I turned my body to the side and vomited everything I had in my stomach. The eggs with bacon didn’t seem as appetizing as before.
I opened my eyes with difficulty, feeling pain all over my body. I let out a groan and sat up, staring at the chains wrapped around my wrists.
I was sitting on the floor, in one of the sheds they used to torture the wolves who stepped out of line. The smell of urine and vomit made my stomach churn even more.
The light coming through the cracks in the window was poor, just like the place. Besides a sink, a small mirror, and a basin for using the bathroom, there was nothing else.
I looked at my hands, the silver chain burning my skin.
I wanted to cry, but I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing me suffer.
I swallowed the tears and the pain I felt, and tried to get up. My legs gave way, lacking strength. I gritted my teeth and tried again, failing. And then I tried a third time, finally standing up.
I could be many things, just like he loved to say, but weak was not one of them. I would die, yes, but with dignity and honor.
I dragged myself to the sink and stared at my reflection in the mirror. The marks on my face were nothing more than dark spots, healing while I slept. I was still swollen and carrying the pain from the beating, but no extreme injuries had been caused.
“Look who woke up,” a voice sounded from the door.
In a slow movement, I turned toward it, finding one of Hunter’s males. He stared at me with a smile on his face.
“Why the chains?” I asked in a hoarse voice.
He raised a blonde eyebrow.
“Did the beating Hunter gave you make you lose your memory?”
I squinted my eyes and rubbed my tongue on my dry lips.
“If I remember correctly... I talked about how his dick is ridiculously small,” I muttered.
The male’s eyes widened, and he shook his head.
“Your memory is good, but not enough to remember that he will kill you if you keep talking about him like that, insulting the dignity of our alpha?”
“Oh, and it would be a shame...” I mocked, stepping around the vomit puddle and sitting on the floor. “And he’s your alpha, I’m a Dăneşti.”
I leaned my back against the wall, stretched my legs out, placed my hands on them, and let out a heavy sigh.
I felt a little dizzy, that place smelled of so many things and people. If only I could get some fresh air.
“Having sex with the pack leader doesn’t make you a member of it.”
I leaned my head against the wall and closed my eyes, breathing deeply through my mouth, trying to avoid the smells that had soaked into the environment.
“No, but mating with one does.”
“Hunt will remove this mark, and then you will be nothing.”
I let out a humorless laugh.
“I’m already satisfied and very happy.”
“Really? And why’s that?”
My smile widened. I reopened my eyes and fixed on him.
“Because now, every pack member knows what Hunter’s flaw is, I doubt he’ll be humiliated like this again.”
I moved my hands, feeling the burn of the silver against my wrists, trying to ease the throbbing.
“I’ll watch your death, wolf, with so much pleasure,” he growled, feeling offended by his alpha.
I snorted and rolled my eyes.
“You didn’t answer my question, why the handcuffs?”
He didn’t seem very inclined to answer me, but still did:
“We all know your skills as a fugitive, Hunter didn’t want to take the risk.”
I pressed my lips together.
“Wow, should I feel important? You, alpha males, are scared that I, a simple omega, will escape right under your noses? This is better than I thought!” I mocked.
Irritating them was my only fun, and I would carry all these memories with me into the afterlife, delighting in them even in death.
“Shut your bitch mouth,” he hissed. “I don’t know if you’re a sadist, who enjoys getting beaten, but if not, shut up. Hunter allowed me to do whatever I want with you if you disrespect me.”
“Uh-huh...” I murmured.
“You know, you’re so stupid,” he sighed. “Hunter was really interested in taking you back. He would make you the queen of the packs, but you’re a stupid bitch who has a bigger tongue than mouth.” I let out a laugh at the internal joke that popped into my mind. “What are you laughing at?” he asked.
“You don’t want to know.”
I laughed out loud, trying to contain myself. My body shuddered with the laughter, causing pain. I ignored it, allowing myself to enjoy the internal amusement I had created. Humor was the only thing I had left, so why not let myself feel it, even just a little?
“Spit it out already, damn it!” he growled, impatient, stepping closer to me.
I blinked, staring at him through my thick lashes.
“Is my tongue bigger than his dick?”
A growl reverberated through the male. He lunged toward me but stopped. He rubbed a hand through his hair and looked away, as if trying to control himself.
I ignored him, staying silent for a moment.
I inhaled, flaring my nostrils, trying to identify the rancid smell in the air. It was the smell of... dried blood, some very old wound. Someone who had been here and was brutally beaten.
“Who did you guys kill here last time?” I asked, sniffing.
“What?” the male shot back, blinking, confused.
I couldn’t pinpoint exactly how long he’d been here or what species he belonged to, but I knew he had existed.
“It smells like old blood here... if you didn’t kill anyone, you hurt enough to leave it impregnated.”
He turned to me and stared at me as if horns had grown on the middle of my head.
“What the hell are you talking about? Besides your bitch smell and your disgusting vomit, there’s nothing here.”
A crease appeared on my forehead.
“Is your nose failing you? Clearly, there’s some smell here. It’s blood, kind of old, but I can still feel it.”
He opened his mouth and stared at me, shaking his head.
“Did you go crazy? The beating Hunter gave you affected your head somehow?”
“My head is just fine.”
“I don’t think so! You’re smelling things that don’t exist. What the hell is your problem?”
I exhaled through my nose.
“My problem is you, useless males.”
He stepped forward, the electricity in the air shifting as the silence stretched. I was managing to get under his skin. And, even though I knew how this would end—with me taking another beating more precisely—I couldn’t stop my tongue.
