The Alpha's Secret Heir Chapter 8

In the downtown apartment.

Dominic was leaning back on the leather sofa, smoking.

Smoke curled around him, obscuring the Alpha's cold face and hiding the emotions in his eyes.

He didn't smoke much before. A werewolf's sense of smell is sensitive, and smoke interferes with judgment. But the pressure of work in recent years had given him this bad habit.

He had sent a message at eight in the morning.

There was no reply from the other side.

It felt like deliberate coldness, or perhaps a silent protest.

He sneered.

He was the one being cuckolded.

What right did Luca have to give him an attitude? How could he have the nerve to be angry?

Dominic threw his phone onto the sofa, his mind terrifyingly calm.

If Luca was smart and obediently got rid of that bastard child...

Then they could at least maintain a shred of dignity in public.

If he refused...

Dominic wouldn't mind doing it himself.

He believed that as an Alpha controlling a massive empire, making an accidental miscarriage happen for a bastard pup wasn't difficult.

Chloe brought breakfast out of the kitchen.

It was simple pasta. The presentation wasn't great, but it looked light.

Dominic took two bites and put down his fork.

She looked anxious. "Dominic, does it not suit your taste?"

The man glanced at her lightly, as if seeing through everything.

His phone buzzed with several messages.

He picked it up.

There were texts from his assistant Mason, company executives, and friends who knew he was back, asking if he had landed safely.

Everyone cared about his difficult journey.

Everyone except... his Omega mate.

He looked up. The girl in front of him was nervously trying to please him.

"Maybe I haven't cooked in too long, so I'm a bit rusty. Should I toast some bread for you instead?"

The contrast was ironic.

The emotion in his eyes grew darker.

Before the girl could take the bowl away, he spoke up.

"I don't eat scallions."

He rarely revealed his preferences to others.

But this boundary had been torn open by the gloomy, painful emotions of the last two days.

He thought with disgust: If Luca can find another stray wolf, why can't I?

"Have you ever dated?" he asked Chloe.

The girl picking out the scallions froze. She looked up, meeting his indifferent gaze, and a blush immediately spread across her face.

Dominic could see the poorly hidden joy and emotion.

But he didn't care.

He just wanted an outlet.

He pressed his lips against hers. It was clean.

The faint floral scent from the gland on the back of her neck was very different from that bitter herbal smell he was used to.

He pressed his hand over that scent in disgust and kissed her harder.
