The Apocalypse:A Survivor's Sarcastic Guide Chapter 7

"Woof woof woof..."

Lucky and Max charged out from under the couch, barking wildly at the window. I followed their gaze.

A zombie had grabbed the cactus I'd specifically planted on the wall. Somehow it got tangled, then while struggling, actually walked up the wall along the vines.

That's right—it walked up!

Like an actor on wires.

I'd originally planted these to prevent thieves, but I'd forgotten one thing: zombies don't feel pain!

"It's coming in! What do we do?"

Katie was stomping her feet anxiously.

I frowned, quickly calculating feasible methods in my mind.

"What do we do? What do we do?"

Katie kept nagging in my ear. I was about to go crazy, couldn't think of any solutions.

Suddenly, I spotted the lights in the yard!

"That's it!"

I immediately turned all the lights on.

Blinding white instantly lit up the entire sky. The light-fearing zombies were directly forced backward.

The zombie tangled in cactus fell from the wall, head-first, brain matter spilling everywhere.

"Wow, zombies all ran away! You're so amazing!"

Katie clapped and cheered, praising me profusely.

I found her annoying, shot her a glare. She sheepishly shut up.

These days I'd predicted every situation—except all zombies gathering at my place.

Thinking about the culprit, I was still angry!

I'd researched it. After people die, if not buried, summer takes about five months to become bones. Lower temperatures need eight months! For zombies—these half-human, half-corpse things—excluding sun, rain, and maggots eating their bodies, they could survive three years max.

This didn't include them killing each other from lack of food!

So, if Katie hadn't attracted them, just with supplies and my coldness, I could have survived several more years. Might even outlast all the zombies dying off.

Sigh~ Really unlucky!

I stood at the window watching zombies gradually leave. Cold wind on my face made my brain especially clear—a biting cold feeling.

Zombies hadn't left. They just stood where light wasn't so glaring, continuing their mechanical behaviors.

Thinking about good people suddenly becoming like this, sadness welled up in my heart.

Would humanity really reach a dead end?

Rustling sounds came from behind. I frowned and looked over.

Katie was rummaging through cabinets.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, suppressing irritation. "Madam, what are you doing now?"

She didn't look back. "Looking for a radio!"

Zombies throughout the city—phones would soon lose signal. Radios became key.

I'd known this long ago, but I didn't plan to take out the radio. At least not now.

Anyway, I should hole up at home for a month first. After outside wasn't so chaotic, then assess the situation.

Rashly contacting the outside world now would inevitably attract people with ulterior motives. Might be inviting wolves into the house!

In the apocalypse, scary thing isn't zombies—it's human hearts!

"You didn't buy a radio?"

Katie plopped on the floor exhausted. Looking at boxes she'd torn apart messily, my heart felt blocked like a wall.

She was always like this—rash about everything, making a fuss. All these years, only I still made friends with this thoughtless person. Others had long been annoyed with her!

"What are you messing around for? Better use that time to sleep well!"

"The whole city is full of zombies. How can I sleep?"

I advised kindly, but Katie wouldn't listen at all. Still muttering about contacting the outside world!
