The Banished Shy Luna Chapter 136

6 min 1 views

The bunker vibrated before the footsteps even reached the door.

Not from running.

Not from fear.

From presence.

That unmistakable weight of someone whose aura didn’t simply enter a room — it claimed it.

Douglas stumbled aside just as a tall, broad-shouldered man stepped into the infirmary without knocking, without pausing, without caring that three furious Alphas immediately snapped toward him like predators ready to tear his throat out.

He walked in like he owned the place.

Like he owned all of us.

And if the crackle in the air was any hint…

he very well could have.

Mason Peir.

My father.

He was dressed in dark tactical gear, black gloves tucked into his belt, boots wet from the forest floor. His hair — black streaked with silver — was slicked back, and his jaw was covered in a neatly trimmed beard that somehow made him look even more dangerous.

But it was his eyes that froze me.

Gold.

Bright and fierce.

Just like Toren’s.

Just like Tyson’s.

Just like Talon’s.

Just like mine.

He stopped in the doorway and let his gaze drag slowly across the room — Toren standing over my bed, Tyson leaning forward like a coiled spring, Talon on my other side with murder in his eyes, Seraphim glaring at him, Douglas stiff as a statue.

Then his gaze landed on me.

And he smiled.

Not gently.

Not warmly.

But with that kind of amused, impressed, “well damn” expression men like him wore right before offering someone a job or starting a war.

“Well,” he said slowly, voice smooth as dark whiskey. “I didn’t expect my daughter to grow up into a woman who could bring a bunker full of Alphas to their knees… and apparently collect three for herself along the way.”

Tyson stiffened.

Toren growled, low and dangerous.

Talon’s fingers twitched, itching for a weapon.

Mason lifted a brow, entirely unfazed.

“Relax,” he said lazily. “If I wanted any of you dead, you wouldn’t be breathing right now.”

Tyson’s snarl deepened. “Say that again, old man—”

“Tyson.” Toren grabbed his arm. “Not now.”

But Mason just laughed.

Actually laughed.

“Oh, he has spirit,” Mason mused, nodding toward Tyson. “I like him. Very bitey. Reminds me of myself at that age.”

“Touch her,” Talon hissed, “and we’ll see how much of yourself is left when we’re done.”

Mason blinked… then smirked.

“That one’s the passionate one, isn’t he?”

Douglas groaned. “Father, please—”

Mason dismissed him with a wave. “Not now, Douglas.”

Then he stepped farther into the room.

Seraphim moved protectively in front of me. “She needs rest. Do not disrupt her aura—”

Mason gave her a dry look. “If I wanted her aura disrupted, Healer, I wouldn’t need to step into the room to do it.”

Seraphim bristled. She actually bristled. “I am not afraid of you.”

“You should be,” Mason said simply. “But don’t worry. You’re doing good work. Better than most.” He flicked his fingers in a subtle gesture of approval.

Toren stepped forward, blocking Mason’s view of me. “You do not walk into my territory and address my Luna without permission.”

Mason clapped once.

Slow.

Mocking.

Amused.

“Your Luna,” he repeated with a grin. “Very possessive. Very good.”

Tyson’s wolf pushed through his skin, muscles tensing. “You think this is funny?”

“I think it’s impressive,” Mason said. “Most Lunas don’t attract three Alphas without trying.” His eyes flicked past Toren, back to me. “But you… Kira, you were always going to be different.”

The sound of my name from his mouth made my stomach twist.

“‘Different,’” I echoed bitterly. “That what we’re calling it now?”

He shrugged. “Powerful. Dangerous. Unpredictable. Beautiful. Take your pick.”

Toren snarled, actually snarled, “Stop talking to her like you know her.”

“And who’s fault is that?” I snapped, sitting up despite the dizziness.

All three mates reached for me at once.

“Don’t sit up—”

“Moon, take it easy—”

“Kira, lay back—”

But I shook them off.

Mason’s smirk faded. Just a little. “You look like her.”

I stiffened. “Who?”

“Your mother,” Mason said. “Not the one you lived with.” His expression hardened slightly. “The woman who should’ve raised you.”

My pulse stumbled.

Toren’s grip on the bed tightened. “Explain. Now.”

Mason exhaled slowly. “Another time. We have priorities.”

“No,” I said sharply. “You don’t get to walk in here and start with riddles. You want to talk? Then talk.”

Mason tilted his head. “You really do take after me.”

Talon growled. “She takes after herself.”

“Even better,” Mason replied. “A woman of her own making.”

His tone grew… almost serious.

“I didn’t know,” he said, voice lower now. “Not entirely. But I suspected. I hoped. So I tried.”

I frowned. “Tried what?”

“To reach you. To see you.”

He inhaled sharply, jaw tightening.

“Your mother… blocked every attempt.”

My heart lurched.

Toren stepped closer, protective and tense. “Explain.”

Mason’s gaze never left mine.

“I reached out to her when you were a baby. She slammed the door in my face. I tried again when you were five. Again when you were eight. Twelve. Fifteen…”

His voice cracked—just barely.

“I kept trying. Every year. Every chance I got.”

Tyson’s expression softened for half a second before the irritation came back tenfold.

Talon’s fists clenched. “Why didn’t you force your way in?”

Mason gave a bitter laugh. “Believe me, I tried. But Lucas—”

His face hardened.

“Lucas used the Council against me. Every time I got close, Lucas would file a complaint or claim I was trespassing. He had Council guards at the border more than once. He practically weaponized them to keep me out.”

Understanding hit like ice water.

Lucas didn't just hate me.

He kept me from him.

Mason continued, voice shaking with suppressed fury.

“I wasn’t allowed within a mile of your territory. The Council threatened sanctions. Lucas claimed I was endangering his ‘family unit.’ And your mother…”

His jaw locked.

“She made it very clear you were not mine to know.”

My throat tightened.

“You tried until I was fifteen?” I whispered.

“I would’ve tried until I died.” Mason’s voice was raw now. “But the last time I came to your territory, Lucas sent Council enforcers after me. Said I was violating the peace terms. They dragged me out like I was a rogue wolf.”

He looked away for the first time. “I didn’t stop trying because I stopped caring, Kira. I stopped because every time I came near, Lucas tightened his grip around you. He made it worse for you and worse for anyone trying to help.”

He finally met my eyes. "And I wasn’t going to risk him taking out his rage on a little girl.”
