The Banished Shy Luna Chapter 140

7 min 1 views

I turned my head slightly, wincing at the pain.

I drew a breath—painful, ragged, but necessary.

“When I fainted,” I began slowly, “I didn’t just black out. I woke up in a void. A place outside the physical world. That’s where she met me.”

Toren’s brows furrowed, intense. “The moon goddess.”

I nodded. “She told me what’s happening isn’t a failure. It’s not me losing control. It’s me evolving. Becoming what I was always meant to be.”

Tyson’s jaw clenched, awe flickering beneath the anger. “Damn.”

“She said my evolution strengthens the pack—not weakens it. Every wolf connected to me—whether mate-bond, pack-bond, or loyalty-bond—will grow stronger, faster, more resilient because of me.”

Talon blinked. “That explains why I feel like I could run through a wall.”

“And why my senses are sharper,” Tyson muttered. “And why Toren looks like he hasn’t had a migraine in a decade.”

Toren shot him a look, but didn’t deny it.

“There’s more,” I said.

Three heads snapped toward me.

“The goddess said I’m part of the Shadow Ancient bloodline. A bloodline that originated from three females—the first wolves.”

Talon whispered, “Females were the originals?”

I nodded. “Females were the Alphas. The leaders. The ones with powers. Males came after.”

Toren rubbed a slow hand across his jaw, absorbing every word. “So everything the Council teaches… is a lie.”

“Exactly,” I said. “They altered history. Buried it. Because they didn’t want wolves like me reclaiming that kind of power.”

Tyson growled. “And they’ll do anything to stop you.”

“They’ll hunt me,” I confirmed. “No matter where we go.”

Talon’s grip tightened. “Then they’ll come through us first.”

“They will,” Toren agreed. “And we won’t let them touch her.”

I swallowed hard.

“There’s one more thing.”

The air shifted again. All three leaned closer.

“The goddess said that brothers—sometimes more than one male—were meant to share ancient Lunas. Because they stabilize the evolution. They balance the bond.”

Tyson’s eyes went wide. “So we’re… supposed to be this way?”

“Yes.”

Talon blinked a few times. "Thats why it feels so—”

“Right?” I finished for him.

He nodded.

Toren placed his hand over mine. “Starlight. Whatever comes next… we face it together.”

I nodded slowly.

Then the door burst open—hard enough to rattle a picture frame.

Douglas stepped in first.

And behind him stood Mason.

My father.

Alive.

Present.

And watching me with an expression I couldn’t read.

The room shifted instantly. Toren’s aura flared like a blade. Tyson bristled. Talon moved half a step in front of me, instinctively shielding me.

Mason didn’t even pretend he hadn’t been eavesdropping.

“Well,” he said with a humorless half-smile, “that was quite a story to overhear.”

Tyson scoffed. “You were listening at the door?”

Mason shrugged. “If you didn’t want me to hear it, you should’ve whispered.”

Toren growled low. “You’re bold to admit it.”

Mason met his gaze evenly. “I’m old, Alpha. Not stupid. A wolf doesn’t ignore ancient goddess talk coming from a room containing his only daughter.”

I stiffened at daughter, but said nothing.

Mason stepped closer — slowly, hands visible, respectful of three murderous Alphas ready to tear him in half.

“I want to hear everything,” he said quietly. “Every word the goddess told you.”

Tyson moved like he was going to lunge.

“You don’t get to demand shit—”

“Tyson.” I laid a hand over his.

Tyson glared at Mason, but stepped back — barely.

Mason nodded once. “Thank you.”

Mason dragged a chair to the foot of the bed and sat, exhaling heavily.

“You were right,” he said without preamble. “The Council won’t let this go. And it’s my fault.”

Toren’s brows snapped together. “Your fault?”

Mason lifted his hand, tracing the air like he could rewrite the past. “When I was your age, Kira… I built the tracking system.”

My heart stopped.

“The one the Council uses to monitor wolves?” Toren demanded.

“The one they used to hunt down ‘dangerous anomalies’?” Tyson bit out.

Mason nodded. “Yes. That one.”

I stared at him, anger and disbelief swirling inside me. “Why would you do that?”

He laughed — but it was hollow, self-loathing. “When I created it, I was naïve. I believed the Council’s doctrine. I believed everything they taught us — about order, about safety, about ‘preventing disasters.’”

He looked down at his hands like they disgusted him.

“Then they showed their true colors.”

Douglas’s jaw clenched, grief flickering across his face.

Mason continued, eyes locked on mine. “I spent years trying to undo the system. To sabotage it. To break the Council’s grip. But it’s bigger than me now. Much bigger.”

Toren crossed his arms. “Why are you telling us this?”

Mason’s expression hardened into resolve. “Because I want to help you destroy it.”

Even Douglas turned sharply at that.

Tyson stared like Mason had grown a second head. “Why the hell would we trust you to help?”

Mason didn’t flinch. “You shouldn’t trust me blindly. But you should use me.”

Talon snarled. “And what do you want in return?”

Mason looked at me —

“A chance,” he said softly. “To make things right. To protect the daughter I lost before I ever got to know her. And maybe… someday… a relationship.”

It hit like a boulder rolling through my chest.

The room stayed quiet too long.

Finally, I spoke. “You want a relationship with me.”

His voice broke. “I want a chance to earn one.”

Tyson rolled his eyes. “Cute speech. Doesn’t fix the fact that you built a damn Council superweapon.”

Mason didn’t deny it. “And that’s exactly why I am the best person to help Kira survive it.”

Toren’s eyes narrowed. “Explain.”

Mason leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “The Council trusts me. Even after all these years. Because they think I’m still the obedient little genius who built their favorite toy.”

Douglas muttered. “Arrogant bastards.”

“Agreed.” Mason nodded once. “Which means I can sabotage them from the inside.”

“How exactly?” Talon asked.

Mason lifted his hand, three fingers raised.

“One: I can corrupt their tracking logs. Make Kira appear inactive or in a dead zone.”

“Two: I can intercept orders sent to their enforcers.”

“And three…” He hesitated.

Toren stepped forward. “Three what?”

“Three,” Mason said quietly, “I can get into the Council chamber. The inner circle. Where they keep relics, histories… and their fears.”

Tyson tilted his head. “Why the hell would they let you in there?”

Mason’s lips curved into a humorless smile.

“Because they still think I’m the smartest wolf alive.”

I swallowed hard.

A dangerous ally.

An even more dangerous enemy.

I looked at my mates — all three radiating suspicion.

Toren: calculating.

Tyson: openly hostile.

Talon: quietly watching, weighing truth from lies.

“Why now?” I asked Mason softly. “Why help me now?”

He met my gaze without wavering.

“Because the Council will kill you if I don’t,” he said. “And because I refuse to lose the only daughter I ever had to the monsters I helped empower.”

My chest tightened.

“But,” he added, and the room stilled, “you need to understand something.”

“What?” I asked.

His expression turned grave, colder than ice.

“The Council already knows something happened tonight.”

The air went razor-sharp.

Toren straightened. “How.”

“Because,” Mason said, standing slowly, “I taught them how to detect evolving wolves… and your signature lit up their system.”

Tyson cursed violently.

Talon paled.

Toren’s aura exploded like a storm.

I felt my pulse spike.

“When?” I whispered.

Mason looked at each of us, solemn and unflinching.

“They’ve already convened a meeting. And their enforcers…” He took a slow breath.

“...will be here before dawn.”
