The Banished Shy Luna Chapter 91

5 min 1 views

The morning air was crisp, sharp with that pre-departure tension that clung to everyone like static. Cars idled in a neat line outside the hotel, black SUVs gleaming in the pale sunlight, engines purring and waiting for orders.

I was out there with Shyanne and Marianne, stuffing the last of the packs into the rear cargo space. The girls worked like clockwork—handing me bags, checking lists, arguing the entire time.

And inside? The arguing was worse.

The three Alphas—Toren, Tyson, and Talon—were at it again.

“No,” Tyson said flatly, tossing a duffel into the backseat with far too much force. “I’m driving. At least then I can control how fast we get there.”

Toren turned, his tone clipped. “You’re not driving. You’ll end up speeding or picking fights with border patrol again.”

“One time,” Tyson shot back, “and that guard deserved it.”

Talon crossed his arms, leaning against the car door with a smirk. “Why don’t I drive? You two can sit in the back and work out your dominance issues in silence.”

Tyson glared at him. “You can barely handle your own Jeep without hitting curbs.”

“I do not hit curbs!”

Toren pinched the bridge of his nose, muttering something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like “I can’t do this for three days.”

Shyanne glanced at me with raised brows. “Are they always like this?”

I exhaled, slamming the trunk closed. “Only when they’re awake.”

Marianne snickered, tugging her ponytail tighter. “You’re gonna need more than patience, Luna. You need a miracle.”

“I don’t need a miracle,” I said, turning toward the car, voice sharper than I intended. “I just need them to shut up.”

That, thankfully, got their attention.

“Enough!” I said, stepping closer, all three sets of Alpha eyes turning toward me. “You’re arguing over seats. Seats. Do you hear yourselves?”

Tyson opened his mouth, but I held up a hand. “No. We’re all riding together in the same damn car. End of discussion.”

They blinked, stunned into silence.

“You want to lead a united pack?” I continued, lowering my voice but keeping it firm. “Then act like it. If the pack sees their three Alphas bickering like pups over territory, they’ll never take any of you seriously—much less trust me to stand beside you.”

That shut them up real quick.

Toren was the first to move. He exhaled slowly, then stepped forward, his expression unreadable. “You’re right,” he said simply. Then, with that quiet, commanding grace of his, he opened the back door and gestured for me to enter. “After you, Luna.”

The title made warmth bloom low in my chest, but I didn’t let it show. I climbed in, settling into the middle seat as Shyanne and Marianne followed. They sat close, one on each side, almost protective.

I knew what that meant.

When I first met them, before I even understood the depth of my connection to the Alphas, my instincts had kicked in. I’d marked them—accidentally—as my Betas. It was inevitable. The bond between us had been too natural, too strong to fight. The Alphas had their seconds, and now… apparently, I did too.

Toren and Talon took the seats in front of us. Tyson and Jake, Toren’s second Beta, claimed the back. Two warriors sat up front, one driving, one keeping watch.

As our car pulled out onto the main road, the low rumble of the convoy followed—seven other SUVs gliding behind us in formation like shadows.

The air inside was thick with leather, pine, and tension.

Toren glanced over his shoulder with a faint grin. “Hope you like long car rides.”

I huffed out a laugh. “I’ve never really been on one, to be honest. Longest trip I’ve done was to the Alpha Gathering this year—and that was ten hours.”

“Ten hours?” Tyson chuckled darkly. “Try three days, sweetheart.”

My head snapped toward him. “Three days?”

Talon laughed softly from the passenger seat. “Don’t worry. It’ll go fast. We’ll make stops, stretch our legs. Maybe Tyson will even learn manners by then.”

“Not likely,” Tyson muttered.

For the first few hours, the car was filled with small noises. The faint click of Shyanne’s phone camera as she scrolled. Marianne humming softly to whatever was playing in her earbuds. Jake staring silently out the window, lost in thought.

Toren and Talon discussed the estate—how they’d rearrange the main house, which warriors to reassign, and what boundaries needed patrol reinforcement. Their low, strategic voices were a steady backdrop, one I’d come to find oddly soothing.

And then there was Tyson—legs sprawled out, file in hand, eyes flicking over the papers like they were an annoyance he couldn’t quite ignore.

I stared out the window for a long time, watching trees blur into color streaks and the morning sun stretch across the highway.

But the question had been clawing at me since we left the hotel.

Finally, I turned my head and looked at Tyson. His eyes met mine instantly, sharp and curious.

“What do you expect out of me?”

The words came out quieter than I meant, but they hit hard enough.

The entire car went silent.

Tyson’s expression froze—like I’d asked him something dangerous. He looked… uncomfortable, almost guilty. His gaze flicked away, back to his papers, as though pretending he hadn’t heard me would make the question disappear.

I didn’t let it go. I looked to the front seat. “What about you two?” I asked Toren and Talon. “What do you expect out of me?”

Silence.

No one moved.

No one answered.

I felt irritation curl in my chest. “You three made me your mate—your Luna—and yet not one of you has told me what that means.”

Still nothing.

I clenched my fists in my lap. “If I’m going to be the mate of three Alphas and the Luna of this pack, then I need to know my duties. What’s expected of me. What you expect from me.”

The weight of my words hung heavy in the air.

Outside, the hum of the tires and the low drone of engines filled the silence. Inside, it was suffocating.
