The Banished Shy Luna Chapter 155
The moment the mate bonds went quiet, something inside my chest snapped clean in half.
It wasn’t a gentle fade.
It wasn’t distance.
It was gone.
Dead silent.
I bolted upright so fast the blankets tangled around my legs.
“No—no, Talon, something’s wrong—” My breath tore from my throat. “I can’t feel them. I can’t feel Toren or Tyson. Talon—Talon, something’s wrong—”
Talon immediately grabbed my face between his hands, voice trembling. “Cupcake, breathe. Just breathe for me—”
“I CAN’T!”
My voice cracked like a breaking bone.
“They’re gone—Talon—they’re just gone—”
Fear flashed in his eyes, real and sharp, but he didn’t pull away.
“Cupcake, sometimes bonds weaken when—”
“NOT LIKE THIS!”
I shoved at his chest.
“This isn’t weak — this is NOTHING. It’s EMPTY. Talon, I can’t feel ANYTHING—”
My breathing turned into short, panicked gasps.
Footsteps thundered down the tunnel.
Douglas burst through the doorway. “What’s happening?!”
Talon snapped, “She can’t feel them!”
Douglas’s face drained instantly. He crossed to me in three large steps and gripped my forearms gently but firmly.
“Luna—look at me. Mate bonds do not sever unless—”
“DON’T.”
My scream echoed off the stone.
“Don’t you dare say they’re dead!”
Douglas swallowed hard. “They’re not. If they were, Talon’s bond would be snapping apart. He’d feel it.”
Talon nodded quickly, though terror trembled behind his eyes. “He’s right, Cupcake. I’d feel the break.”
But it wasn’t enough.
The silence in those bonds felt wrong.
Predatory.
My chest tightened until it hurt.
Then Mason arrived at the doorway, pale and breathless. “What’s—”
“They’re gone!” I sobbed. “I can’t feel them—Mason, I can’t feel them at all—”
He stepped in, dread settling over his expression like a shadow.
“Kira—listen—”
“STOP TELLING ME TO LISTEN!” I cried, voice shattering. “Nobody is telling me anything—just STOP!”
Talon flinched, his hands trying to grab mine again.
“Cupcake—please—”
“I’M SCARED!” I screamed. “Something happened—something took them—”
My vision blurred.
The walls spun.
And then—
A piercing tone rang through my skull.
Light split the air.
And the world ripped away.
Cold darkness wrapped around me.
Silent.
Weightless.
My heartbeat echoed faintly… as if from another body entirely.
Then a soft glow lit the void.
“You always were dramatic,” a gentle voice teased.
I spun to see the Moon Goddess drifting toward me, bare feet touching nothing.
I rushed at her. “Tell me where they are! Toren and Tyson—did the Council take them?! Did the Elders—”
“No,” she said softly.
Everything inside me froze.
“No…?” I whispered. “Then who—”
The void rippled.
A window of light opened beside us.
A forest clearing.
Two figures tied to bloodstained stakes.
Toren. Tyson.
Unconscious. Barely breathing.
And in front of them—
Lucas.
Lyra.
And the woman who pretended to be my mother.
My breath collapsed.
“No,” I whispered. “No, he couldn’t—Lucas can’t—”
The goddess tilted her head. “Lucas is unstable. But not weak. He carries Alpha-born compulsion.”
A cold wave rippled across my spine.
“It doesn’t work on me,” I said.
“No,” she agreed. “Nor on Talon. Nor on wolves stronger than him. But most wolves?” She gestured to the vision. “Even the shapeshifter? Yes.”
My stomach turned.
“So he controlled the trap.”
“Yes.”
“And the Council—?”
“Did not order it,” she said firmly. “In truth, they fear him. His volatility. His obsession.”
My throat tightened. “His obsession with what?”
“You.”
Her glow dimmed faintly.
“He believes you belong to him. He believes your mates stole you.”
A low growl vibrated through my teeth. “I’ll kill him.”
“Yes,” she said calmly. “You will.”
Heat bloomed in my abdomen — soft, warm.
I touched my stomach. “The baby… the bond… did you do something?”
“No,” she murmured. “But you are evolving.”
I swallowed hard. “I feel like I’m falling apart.”
“You feel your bloodline awakening.”
Her voice softened.
“The Ancient Shadow bloodline is not gentle. It requires balance.”
“With my mates…” I whispered.
“Yes. They anchor you. And you anchor them. Without all three, your evolution is unstable.”
Another warm pulse spread beneath my palm.
“The baby…” My voice wavered. “Is this going to be normal? Human? Shifter? Shorter? Longer?”
She hesitated.
I froze.
“I cannot answer that,” she said at last. “Not until all three of your mates stand with you again. Only then will your child’s nature reveal itself.”
Fear wrapped icy fingers around my ribs. “Then tell me what to do.”
“You must unite the packs.”
I blinked. “That’s impossible.”
“Nothing about you is impossible,” she said. “You were born for this. Created for it. Your bloodline once led the world. And it will again.”
Her fingers touched my cheek, warm and soft.
“You must learn control. Of your voice, your aura, your power. You are not merely a Luna now. You are catalyst.”
The void brightened.
Symbols swirled around us like falling stars.
“How do I find them?” I asked. “Tell me how to get to Toren and Tyson.”
“You already know,” she whispered. “Your silence is not death — only suppression. Lucas’s compulsion crushing the threads. Find him, and you find them.”
“I will kill him,” I said again, teeth clenched.
“And you will succeed,” she said. “But not yet.”
Before I could ask more, the void cracked open beneath me.
“You are not alone,” she whispered.
And then I fell.
I gasped awake with a choking sob.
Talon was kneeling at the bedside, tears streaming down his face. Douglas held him back with both arms.
“Cupcake—Cupcake, please—don’t ever do that again—” Talon sobbed, voice raw.
Douglas released him, and Talon nearly collapsed onto the mattress, grabbing my hands like lifelines.
“Kira—talk to me,” he begged. “Please.”
I squeezed his shaking fingers.
“It’s not the Council,” I whispered.
The room went still.
Douglas froze.
Mason’s breath caught.
Talon stared at me like the world was collapsing.
“It’s Lucas,” I said. “Lucas, Lyra, and that woman. They took Toren and Tyson. They used the shapeshifter. They set the trap.”
Silence.
Then Talon’s expression twisted into something dark and lethal.
“That bastard,” he whispered, voice trembling with rage.
“Cupcake… I’m going to kill him.”
And the air around him shivered with power.
