When Love Becomes Past Tense Chapter 13
With the trending topics artificially kept at the top for a month, Caleb Sterling and Sienna Blake’s reputations were in tatters. The Sterling Group was in chaos, teetering on the edge of collapse.
My life was peaceful. Roman spoiled me daily, so I had no time to pay attention to them.
But one day during a meal, I felt nauseous and threw up violently.
We both realized something was up and rushed to the hospital.
"Congratulations, you're pregnant."
Hearing those words, I was in a daze.
Behind me, Roman’s voice was trembling.
Walking out of the exam room, he made me sit on a chair while he crouched by my legs.
Only then did I notice his eyes were red.
"We used protection... Giving birth hurts. I don't want you to suffer. Maybe... we shouldn't keep this baby..."
I quickly covered my belly.
"Baby, don't listen! Daddy's talking nonsense!"
I touched Roman’s face, amused.
"Stop crying. I'm not scared. If you keep talking like that, aren't you afraid the baby won't like you when they come out?"
Roman shook his head.
"If he dares to make you uncomfortable, I won't like him either."
Our eyes met, and we both laughed.
Roman hugged me.
"Thank you."
I smiled back. "No, thank you."
"After my dad died, I thought I had lost everything."
"Now I realize, I gained everything."
Huddled together, neither of us noticed the figure curled up in the corner of the hallway.
The birth was difficult. I was in pain for a long time, but in the end, Roman was the one crying the hardest.
Right after I gave birth, he decisively went and got a vasectomy.
The baby was well-behaved. He lay in my arms, quiet and observant, just staring at us with big eyes.
I suddenly noticed a nervous figure at the door.
Caleb Sterling.
