Alpha Aidan's Rejection Chapter 104
TARA
As soon as I crossed the entrance door to Jenna's living room, her petite frame was the first thing I saw leaning by the door that connected her two rooms, and I halted, freezing like a teenager caught returning from a party she was forbidden from attending, intoxicated on all the wrong things.
To make light of the situation, I teased her, saying. "Hi, Mom."
The lights were switched on now, and yeah, she looked everything like the angry mama in the sleepwear, red hair messily piled up on her head, while I looked like the rebellious daughter.
Jenna only studied me for a few more seconds before her face scrunched up in disgust, only that I could see through it to know that it was faux, one hand coming to waft an imaginary smell away from her nose.
"You. Reek. Of. Sex!"
"Jeez, Jenna," I bellowed, eyes wide in horror as I kicked my shoes off, crossing the room to where she stood. "Don't say those words with Nadia in the next room hearing you," I cautioned, and Jenna only waved me away, the lightness returning to her face.
"She's already deep asleep to hear me scream the words 'you reek of sex' Tara, okay?" Jenna said, turning in the direction of the kitchen while my face dropped a little as I peeked my head into the room I knew Nadia would be sleeping in.
"I'm sorry, Jen. I missed her bedtime. We were supposed to be back home by now," I said in apology as I followed Jenna into the kitchen to see her pouring herself a glass of water.
"You say that as if there's not enough room for you two to sleep in whenever you need to. Don't make me spank you, T," Jenna warned, and I winced, watching her gulp.
My dirty mind also tracked back to how much room Aidan and I had in the car only moments ago as he made me come undone atop him within seconds, and my body crooned in just the thought, but Jenna had already started teasing me, so I had to school my thoughts.
"Thank you, Jen. I got carried away."
Her eyebrow wriggled through her response, making me regret why that slipped from my lips. "Yeah…carried away banging Daddy in the passenger seat," she said, and I would have frozen at the thought that she saw us, only that Aidan and I weren't in the passenger seat.
"You don't know what you're talking about," I said, reaching for my own glass of water now because I was suddenly parched, and Jenna snickered.
"Well, your missing buttons, disheveled outlook, and deer caught in headlights pose was the giveaway, so deny it all you want," she said, and I shook my head. The teasing died down, and Jenna spoke again. "You three seem happy," she said, a certain warmth trickling through her voice, and a small smile also playing on her lips as she spoke, and I nodded.
"We are. Why did you say us three though?" The usual line was 'you seem happy'…
Jen smiled, her response making my heart stop. "Only because when I tried to make an excuse for you not coming back as early as we expected, letting Nadia know that Mommy had something important to attend to, she responded by saying that she knew," Jenna said. "In her words, Mommy and Daddy were going on more dates so that they could get married soon."
My breath released, my heart, warming at Nadia's words. Jenna went on, not even remotely done with drawing emotions to my eyes in a rush. "You also have that glow around you that a woman usually has when she's been loved properly. You may not have noticed, but it's been handling one day after the other since you came here, but since he came back and you two sorted things out, you've been lighter."
How did Jenna notice that?
She explained. "No day has passed that a genuine smile hasn't played on your face or happiness reflecting on your actions. Even when you two confronted your pasts, it was still different from the shadow you had been dragging with you prior to this."
Now, I was definitely going to cry, so I sniffed, chuckling to push the tears back. "So you're now like a psychic or something?"
Jenna shrugged, emptying her glass and placing it down. "You can say so. And lastly," she said, not done with her silent observation over the years. "It's really not difficult to tell when a man is happy with what he has in his life. Damned guy has refused to be where you're not since he first walked in here."
I laughed now, a burst of soft, happy laughter that stemmed from the deepest part of my stomach, and my cheeks hurt with how badly I was gone. "Thank you, Jenna, for your kind observance. I really don't know what else to say," I replied as genuinely as I could. "But you're right. We're happy. And thankful," I finished, and Jenna nodded.
"Well, Alpha has successfully erased himself from my black books of men who should be castrated for hurting Tara, so I give you my blessing, child. Go into the world and multiply," she said, and we both burst out laughing.
"I really really want to see that book and the list of men in it, Jen," I said laughing, realizing that almost no one else made me laugh as hard as my best friend for years.
"The acceptance fee is only a leg," she said with a deadpan expression, causing me to laugh even harder.
Jeez, I had missed my girl so much!
"Goodnight, Jenna," I said, knowing that she must have been tired from working all day and looking after Nadia for me. "We'll catch up tomorrow," I added, and she smiled.
"Goodnight, Tara. Go clean up, and get that come off your skirt," she said, and my mouth dropped, eyes flaring as I swiveled around in search of the stain.
Jenna only cackled, exiting the kitchen and letting me know that she had been pulling a trick on me, and I fell right into it, admitting to what Aidan and I had been up to in his car right outside her apartment.
Oh well, I was unapologetic about it.
