Alpha Aidan's Rejection Chapter 99

TARA

Before long, we were at Aidan's home, the one we stayed in during the time when ours was flooded, and Nadia had settled down in her old room.

It was crazy how we already had our rooms in Aidan's house.

Aidan walked behind me as I made my way over to my room with one hand in his pocket, the other one squeezing the back of his neck, and his eyes directed at the floor.

"What?" I asked when we stepped inside the familiar environment.

A shudder ran through me as I remembered. This was where Aidan and I had sex.

That was when he walked in on me changing and giving off all that big alpha energy about my scars, then he kissed them like they were the most perfect imperfections he had ever seen.

I still remembered how he felt as he moved inside me, how every cell in my body lit up like bulbs on an abandoned street, how devastatingly wracking my climax had been, and how perfect the rest of it went.

Clearing my throat, I looked at Aidan. He seemed to be in conflict with himself.

"What is it?" I asked again, pausing my thoughts.

"I would really prefer if we slept in the same bed again," he said, hitting the nail on the head.

And here he had me panicking like it was about something else.

"Well, I'll also have a few requests of mine if that's what you would really prefer," I said, sucking my bottom lip in between my teeth.

Aidan's gaze darkened, and my body roared to life like an engine on standby.

  Freaking Christ!

"You can have as many requests as you want, Tara," Aidan said, voice low and heavy with intention. "I'll tick each and everyone off."

It was beginning to get a little too hot in here with how Aidan was disecting me with his eyes, so I dropped my gaze to the floor, only for Aidan to walk into my breathing space, making it even harder. He held my chin in between his thumb and forefinger, and dipped his head to claim my lips, causing my eyelids to flutter and drop.

When he pulled back, leaving me hit and aroused, I swallowed hard, blinking rapidly to get a bearing on my surroundings.

"I'll get started on dinner. Settle down."

He exited my room with that, closing the door behind him softly, and leaving me to wonder how in heaven this man was not tired.

He just had a packed day.

Unable to put my guilt in check after a couple of minutes, I headed to the kitchen to see what I could help Aidan with.

The delicious aroma of his cuisine filled my lungs as soon as I stepped outside the door, and I walked to the kitchen, drooling with my jaw slack.

It turned out Aidan was making a quick meal because plates were lined up already. Or he was just a really good cook and he had no problems whipping up meals within minutes.

"Smells good in here," I mused as I came up behind him, snaking my hands up his chest, and leaning into Aidan's warmth.

I felt Aidan's chest rumble underneath my palms as he chuckled, and I added that to the list of my favorite things on the planet.

"Come grab a seat. I'll plate us some, and get Nadia."

I did that, and within the next few minutes, the three of us were sitting down around a small table, and the only sounds that were heard were that of silverware clinking on plates as we devoured the delicious meal Aidan made us.

It felt refreshing to be on the receiving end all day, even though I planned to make up for it later.

We were done with our food within minutes, and Nadia soon retreated to the living room with her glass of juice, while Aidan and I were in the kitchen, cleaning up with two glasses of wine. Or at least, I was trying to help clean up because Aidan wouldn't hear of it.

"You don't expect me to just stand here while you do all the work, especially after having such a long day. You're still in your day clothes, Aidan," I complained, but Aidan was already halfway through washing the plates.

"I'm nowhere near tired. Working is normal for me, remember, Alpha?"

I inhaled sharply, abandoning my drink and crossing the kitchen to where Aidan was, and then I tapped a finger on my chin like I was in thought. "Oh. Yes. I totally forgot about that. Alpha of two packs, actually," I said, grabbing a towel and snatching one of the plates from Aidan. "Doesn't change the fact that you're not a robot. I'm helping."

Aidan saw that I wasn't going to let this one go, so he let me do what I wished.

"You look stunning," Aidan said, more like murmuring to himself, but I heard it anyway.

"Thanks," I said, shying away to take in my basic outfit.

We spent the rest of the time cleaning, talking about Aidan's day, including how awkward it was for everyone who came into the diner today to give their orders to the alpha when it was usually the other way around.

I watched the glint in Aidan's eyes as he talked about how much fun he and Nadia had during their day, and how she had insisted that he come inside with her, so she could introduce him to her teacher and classmates.

And during that time, I completely forgot about the threatening text that Kayla sent to me earlier in the day. I knew she was dangerous, and I should have probably told Aidan about it, but whatever Kayla had up her sleeves, I wasn't that naive girl anymore.

I was going to do whatever it took to keep my family safe.

When we rounded up in the kitchen, Aidan went up to his room to shower and get changed, while I took Nadia to her room to help her with homework and get her ready for bed.

As I made up for the time I'd missed with my baby when she bathed, Nadia recounted her side of her day to me, her excitement shooting through the roof.

I listened with rapt attention, even though Aidan had told the same story.

Nadia must have been so excited, that she fell asleep almost immediately.

And as I made my way to Aidan's room, my heart was logged in my throat, and I prayed that this didn't end badly for either of us. Because it wasn't just me who was in love with Aidan now.

  Nadi had said it too.

She was in love with her father.
