Apocalypse Space:Second Chance Chapter 10
"I told you they had food, and you didn't believe me." The female student who'd first begged for food ate the stolen cookies while smacking her lips.
"Damn it, they had so much food but lied and said they didn't."
"Isn't that basically trying to kill us?"
"Selfish people like them shouldn't have survived this long."
The fifth floor was in complete chaos.
No one knew a food battle had just taken place.
Quinn hadn't died—she'd appeared in our dorm.
Dorm 503 had been turned upside down, not a drop of food left.
The students who'd previously admired and envied us now treated us like enemies.
Everyone wanted us dead.
But Jenna and I had done nothing wrong—we'd even helped clear zombies for them.
The apocalypse was truly terrifying...
"That's right, we must throw these two selfish people downstairs to feed the zombies." A chubby girl made the suggestion.
I knew her—Phoebe Ford, the dorm leader of 508.
Her face was full of fat, making her look fierce even normally.
Hearing her words, Jenna and my hearts tightened.
Many people looked at us with strange eyes, no less terrifying than zombies.
"Someone grab them." We tried to run but were caught tightly by the arms.
Phoebe had people tie our hands and feet and was about to push us off the balcony.
Many stood by watching—a game of murder.
Phoebe was very strong. A light push would probably send us both down.
And I would be first.
Perhaps because it was her first time killing someone, her hands were trembling.
"Don't blame me. You're just too despicable."
"I almost... almost starved to death."
Phoebe's hand pushed me harder. My body moved forward a bit more.
I tried communicating with the system but got no response.

The voice in my mind kept repeating.
I wanted to cry.
What a broken system, broken space—dropping the ball at the critical moment!
"Wait, Phoebe." Just as I felt despair, a voice came from outside.
Quinn, who'd disappeared briefly, had returned at this moment.
Behind her was a somewhat thuggish-looking guy.
I recognized him—Kyle Zhang, the school's gang leader.
I hadn't expected these two to get together so quickly, so intimately. What about Marcus?
Quinn tried to convince Phoebe not to kill us.
Jenna and I exchanged glances, both feeling things weren't so simple. She definitely had some scheme.
But for now, we could only wait and see.
"Quinn, they already treated us like that, why do you still want to help her!"
Phoebe stopped but looked coldly at Quinn.
Quinn didn't get angry, just said slowly, "Phoebe, without them, how will we get food?"
Phoebe fell silent.
Quinn then asked the others present, "You all talk big, but do any of you have the courage to kill zombies?"
"N-no."
"I'm fat, I really can't run..."
"What if a zombie bites me? I'd be finished."
"..."
"Then listen to me. You'll all be able to eat your fill." Quinn said confidently.
All the students' spirits lifted, cheering for Quinn.
