Reborn to Marry a Vampire,My Sister and Werewolf Ex Go Mad with Regret Chapter 11
"Ugh."
A wave of nausea hit Marcus, and he clamped a hand over his mouth and ran out of the room.
Chloe's lips twisted into a sarcastic smile.
"It's his child. Why is he so disgusted?"
News that the werewolf pack had produced a monster spread quickly, even attracting the attention of the Fae healers.
The healer looked at the drooling creature and asked Chloe, "Miss Chloe, did you consume anything unusual during your pregnancy? Logically, this child should have been a normal infant."
Chloe's face went white. With a trembling hand, she pulled a small vial from her sleeve and handed it to the healer.
"I took this. You can fix my baby, can't you?"
The healer didn't answer right away. He opened the vial, sniffed its contents, and his expression cleared with understanding.
"This is a goblin's fertility egg. There is an old wives' tale that taking one a day for thirty days can induce pregnancy, but it shouldn't cause deformities."
The goblin merchant who sold it was immediately captured and dragged before them.
The moment Chloe saw him, she lunged, grabbing him by the throat and screaming, "Why isn't my child normal? Why did he turn out like this?"
The goblin, terrified by the scene, shuddered. When he saw the monster beside them, he shoved Chloe away and fell to his knees, begging Marcus for mercy.
"This is clearly Miss Chloe's fault for not following my instructions! She must have taken too many of the fertility eggs! There's no other explanation!"
Chloe glared at the goblin.
"You said taking them for thirty days would make me pregnant. So if I took them for sixty days, wouldn't I have twins?"
Her words hung in the air, and everyone in the room understood what had happened.
If Chloe had followed the instructions, she would have had a normal, healthy child. But she was too greedy.
The incident made the Blackwood Pack a laughingstock once again. Everyone said Marcus was impotent, that his wife had to not only cheat on him but also resort to taking cheap remedies from lowly creatures just to have a child.
With Marcus in such a foul mood, Chloe's life in the werewolf pack was only going to get worse.
A month later, I was in the city buying soft fabrics for my babies' incubation period. On my way home, I saw Chloe clutching a basket to her chest, sneaking down a dark alleyway.
I'd heard rumors that she had been driven mad by the abuse and was now trying to steal other people's children at the werewolf estate.
I didn't think much of it and happily went home, ready to welcome my babies as they hatched.
But the door to my room was wide open. The incubator was empty. All three of my eggs were gone.
