Two weeks later, my father summoned me back home.

Before I left, I saw the deep worry in Silas's eyes and asked him to come with me.

In the living room, Chloe was on the floor, weeping and clutching a wolf pup with reddish-brown fur.

"This is my child with Marcus! It's normal for a wolf's fur color to be a little different!"

Chloe insisted the pup was Marcus's, but she didn't know that Marcus was a pure-blooded silver wolf. There was no record of red-brown fur anywhere in his family's lineage.

Marcus's face was dark, his body radiating pure rage.

"Chloe White, who did you cheat on me with to have this thing? If you don't tell me the truth, I'll choke this bastard to death right here!"

My father, terrified, tried to calm him down.

"Marcus, please, calm down. There must be some misunderstanding. Chloe loves you so much, how could she ever betray you?"

Seeing our father take her side, Chloe immediately held the baby out to Marcus, her voice soft.

"Look, he looks just like you. His eyes are exactly the same."

Marcus took the pup, his face a cold mask.

The little pup, who had been sleeping peacefully in Chloe's arms, took one look at Marcus's face and began to wail.

The heartbreaking cries reminded me of Aiden, struggling in the fire.

A sharp pain shot through my chest, and I frowned.

Silas noticed my distress. He gently covered my ears, thinking I was bothered by the baby's crying.

"Bastard!" Marcus cursed, lifting the pup high into the air and then viciously throwing it toward the floor.

In the instant before the pup hit the ground, both Silas and I reached out. The baby landed safely in Silas's arms.

Even though I wanted to kill Chloe and Marcus myself, the child was innocent.

Everyone in the room was horrified by the scene.

Chloe was especially terrified. Her face was pale, and her whole body trembled.

"Marcus, you heartless monster."

The love was completely gone from Marcus's eyes.

"Chloe, my pack values absolute loyalty to one's mate. You openly betrayed me. Who are you to call me heartless?"

If Marcus had one single redeeming quality, it was his so-called "loyalty."

In my past life, when I didn't get pregnant for six months, he never considered finding another wolf to bear his children. Instead, he tormented me day and night, venting his frustration.

I wondered if Chloe would be able to endure that "blessing" this time around.
