"If things don't work out with the vampire family, you can always ask Chloe for help."

She finished, then covered her mouth and laughed hysterically, ignoring the strange looks from the servants around us.

In Chloe's mind, the werewolf family had endless resources, and Marcus was desperate for an heir, so she assumed I got pregnant easily.

But she had no idea how difficult it was for a human and a supernatural to conceive. And Marcus's obsession with having a child was borderline insane.

Seeing that I wasn't angry at all, Chloe lost her temper and swept all the pastries off the table.

"I will be the first to get pregnant! My child will be the next Alliance leader!"

I couldn't be bothered with her tantrum. I turned and left to prepare for my wedding in three days.

Chloe was right about one thing. The Thorne Coven was seen as "poor" by the outside world. I was worried they couldn't even afford a proper wedding dress, so I planned to get one myself.

I opened the box. Inside was a dark green, floor-length gown. The bodice was adorned with shimmering, jewel-like pieces that looked like iridescent scales.

I had never seen such a beautiful dress. I was completely mesmerized.
