Reborn to Marry a Vampire,My Sister and Werewolf Ex Go Mad with Regret Chapter 12
In my panic, I remembered the green silk covering Chloe's basket. It looked just like the handkerchief I had left on my desk.
I grabbed the self-defense dagger Silas had given me and sprinted to the alley where Chloe had disappeared. At the end of it was a dilapidated courtyard. From inside, I could hear Chloe's twisted voice.
"Don't be scared, my babies. Mommy is here with you."
I crept up behind her, pressed the dagger to her throat, my voice laced with killing intent.
"Chloe, give me back my children."
But when I looked into the basket, I saw that the three eggshells were already shattered. The life force inside them was gone.
Had they been killed, or…
While I was stunned, Chloe shoved me away and burst into manic laughter.
"The babies are dead! My baby is dead, and now yours are too! It's perfect! This is perfect!"
My vision turned red. I raised the dagger and lunged at her, ready to avenge my children.
Suddenly, Silas rushed in. A silver shadow emerged from his body, morphing into a winged serpent. It opened its fanged mouth and lunged, sinking its teeth into Chloe's neck.
In an instant, Chloe choked on her own blood and collapsed to the ground, dead.
The small, silver serpent coiled around my arm and spoke, its voice familiar. "Mommy, I avenged you."
It was Aiden's voice. Aiden was my child once more.
I cradled the serpent in my hands and kissed his head.
Chloe's death caused no ripples. Our father had long since disowned her after the shame she brought upon him, and Marcus was probably glad she was dead.
Seven days later, my other two children took human form.
The sky once again lit up with violet light and a rainbow aurora as a hundred birds sang. It was another auspicious sign.
A golden light enveloped my body. In that instant, a shimmering, emerald-green serpent's tail appeared where my legs had been, and my eyes turned a pure, brilliant green.
A majestic voice echoed from the heavens.
"Guardian Spirit Rebecca, who shattered the celestial star chart a millennium ago and brought chaos to the world. Your trials are now complete. You may return to the Divine Realm."
Countless memories flooded my mind. I had been a flower, a stone, a phoenix, a water sprite… and in every single life, Silas had been there, protecting me.
Silas could have completed his own ascension and returned to the Divine Realm long ago. But in my tenth life, he sacrificed a thousand years of his power to save me.
Before I ascended, Silas took my hand and promised, "Rebecca, wait for me. I'll join you in the celestial palace soon."
A divine blessing rained down upon the earth. The vampires of the Thorne Coven all knelt to receive it.
"We send off our Guardian! May she bless the Thorne Coven with eternal prosperity!"
A flash of white light, and I was back in the celestial palace, once again the Guardian Spirit of the Garden of Life.
Five hundred years later, I was taking a nap when a familiar scent drifted into my room. I was pulled into an embrace that was both cool and warm, a feeling I knew so well.
Silas's voice whispered in my ear.
"Rebecca, I'm back."
"And I took care of everyone who ever hurt you."
