Reborn to Marry a Vampire,My Sister and Werewolf Ex Go Mad with Regret Chapter 8
I gently pulled my hand from her tight grip and spoke slowly.
"Sister, it's not that I don't want to help you. It's incredibly difficult for humans and supernaturals to conceive. Plus, your body was weakened by the last birth. If you want another child, you'll have to wait at least three to five years."
Chloe shot to her feet, her eyes filled with venom.
"Rebecca, you're deliberately not helping me! You just can't stand to see me happy! I'm telling you, if you won't help me, I'll find a way myself."
"Don't even think about having a baby before I do. I will not lose to you!"
With that threat, she slammed the door and left.
I was speechless. I was telling her the truth. A pregnancy between a human and a supernatural couldn't be forced.
In my last life, I was only able to use the secret method because I carried a trace of ancient water sprite blood in my veins.
During the great war, the water sprite clan refused to make peace with humans and retreated to the deep sea, cutting themselves off from the world. My mother, young and playful, took human form and came to the surface, where she fell in love with my father at first sight.
To stay with him on land, my mother gave up her sprite powers and became mortal. Her life was shortened to just five years. After giving birth to me, she sealed away my faint sprite bloodline.
Water sprites were naturally fertile. In my past life, to give Marcus a son, I forcibly broke that seal, which was essentially a slow form of suicide.
Although I successfully conceived, as my sprite bloodline faded, my life force drained away with it.
This time, I wouldn't do something so stupid just to hurt myself.
Just when I thought I would never be pregnant again in this life, something unexpected happened.
Two months later, as Silas's hand gently rested on my stomach one night, he suddenly froze and asked, "Rebecca, when was your last monthly cycle?"
I thought back and realized it had been about two months. But my belly was only slightly rounded, not at all like I was pregnant. I just assumed I'd gained some weight recently.
"No way," I said, shocked.
Before I could say anything else, Silas leaped out of bed, threw on his clothes, and rushed out to find the doctor.
Less than ten minutes later, the coven's doctor appeared in our room.
He took my pulse, his brow furrowed. He would shake his head one moment, then nod the next.
The room was unnervingly quiet. Silas watched me, his face etched with worry.
Finally, the doctor stood up and congratulated us. "Congratulations, Master Silas. The mistress is two months along. From the looks of it, she should be ready to lay the eggs in a few days!"
I was calm until he got to the last part. My jaw dropped.
"Not give birth? Lay eggs?"
Silas smiled and stroked my head, explaining, "Our Thorne bloodline is unique. We lay eggs first, and then we incubate them."
Ever since he found out I was pregnant, Silas had me eating all sorts of rare and precious supplements and forbade me from doing any work at all.
He even managed to find three "moonlight fruits" for me, a priceless delicacy that was every pregnant woman's dream.
