A Magical Mushroom Soup Chapter 12
We were brought to the Shadow Vault's top floor. The leader's face was covered in scars, but he wore luxurious clothes, his big foot planted on a chained tiger. He was currently enjoying a table full of delicacies.
In the apocalypse, all resources were scarce, yet this Shadow Vault leader was extremely wasteful.
Looking at the tiger being tortured by the leader, my mind flashed with inspiration.
I kicked Jackson down and fawned over the Shadow Vault leader. "Boss, I heard this is the person your Shadow Vault's been looking for. I brought him to you, and found this too."
The leader didn't even lift his eyelids—until I pulled out a red-glowing plant from my chest. He instantly stood up, trying to snatch it from my hand.
"Apocalypse rules—trade for trade." I quickly pulled the plant back.
The leader's coldness changed to flattery. "Beautiful lady, what's your price?"
"I've been short a blood slave lately. The one just sent back looked pretty good."
"But... he's the most useful blood slave. He's very important to me. How about another one?" The leader looked troubled.
I saw through his act immediately—he just didn't think it was worth it.
"I once saw an old man eat this plant. After eating it, his body returned to its prime. I wonder if such effects compare to one blood slave?" I tempted the leader with the plant.
Hearing about the plant's effects, the leader's eyes lit up instantly.
"Why should I believe you?"
I plucked off a leaf and fed it to the tiger. After eating, the tiger quickly transformed from weak to strong, roaring loudly.
Seeing this, the leader urgently said, "Deal, deal! Give it to me quickly!"
I pulled out another plant from my chest, smiling. "The second one—to buy him." I pointed at Jackson on the ground.
Jackson looked shocked. He didn't know the tiger clan had given me such plants, much less that I'd rescue him on the spot.
The leader paused but quickly agreed, giving Bleach a look.
So Jackson and I helped my brother walk out of the Shadow Vault.
But we'd barely taken a few steps when I sensed someone following us.
