A Magical Mushroom Soup Chapter 3
As the relentless ramming continued, my hiding space rapidly shrank. Just as I prepared to make a desperate stand, the snake suddenly let out a pained hiss.
Then its massive body collapsed powerlessly. I saw a long blade embedded at its vital point, and a man in black expertly gutting the snake, cutting the meat into sections and packing them in black bags.
The overwhelming fishy stench made me gag involuntarily.
The man seemed to notice me for the first time. He cut off a large chunk of snake meat, packed it, and asked quietly,
"Want some?"
I accepted despite my nausea. Having food beat starving to death.
"Thanks. I have some mushrooms here if you want them. I checked—they're not poisonous."
Good people were rare in the apocalypse, but following the principle of reciprocity, I shared some mushrooms with him.
The man accepted and kindly warned me to leave quickly—the blood smell would attract dangerous things.
