A Magical Mushroom Soup Chapter 14

Jackson and I infiltrated the Shadow Vault, sneaking toward the leader's location. As they say—capture the king first.

But before reaching the top floor, we were surrounded by guards with knives.

The leader emerged from the crowd. "You didn't really think I'd eat it directly, did you? I just had a slave test a piece. He died instantly."

The leader grabbed my throat, saying through gritted teeth, "I never harmed you. Why did you come to harm me?"

I struggled outwardly while secretly pulling out my knife.

"Die!" I stabbed toward him forcefully, but just as it was about to pierce his body, an invisible force blocked it.

The knife's direction was forcibly twisted. Just as it was about to stab me, I was powerless to resist.

Seeing this, Jackson pulled out his long blade and stabbed toward the leader's back, but was flung against the wall with a wave of the leader's hand.

The leader dropped me and walked toward Jackson, stepping on his face with a big foot, mocking,

"Isn't this our Shadow Vault's top hunter? How did you fall so low? You dared betray us—did you forget the Shadow Vault's kindness in raising you?"

Jackson spat defiantly at the leader but was locked around the neck with steel wire until he passed out.

The leader slowly approached me. I thought he'd kill me, but unexpectedly he knocked me unconscious with one palm.
