The Shadow Vault leader fell ill. The Shadow Vault descended into chaos. Guards went out searching for medicine, giving the oppressed people and animals a moment's respite.

I used my mind control to have rats bite the remaining guards to death, ordering Jackson to lead the people and animals to escape first. And I would personally kill the Shadow Vault leader!

Jackson hugged me. "Fisher, protect yourself. Wait for me to come back and help you."

I smiled at Jackson. "Don't worry, I still owe you a meal. Please take care of my brother for me."

But the moment I turned around, sadness welled up in my heart. The Shadow Vault leader could manipulate objects telekinetically—his power wasn't to be underestimated. Actually, I had little chance of winning.

But thinking of my brother's body covered in needle marks, all his doing, the rage in my heart couldn't be suppressed! No matter what, I had to avenge my brother!

I picked up my knife and walked toward the top floor with a group of mutated rats. The rats were extremely agitated, biting anyone they saw. Soon, all the guards remaining on the top floor had fallen.

I slowly approached the Shadow Vault leader lying in bed. His eyes were full of terror.

"Please, don't kill me!"

"From the day you started torturing my brother, you should have known this day would come." I raised my knife to stab his heart, but was restrained by a familiar force!

My face showed shock. "You were faking!"

The Shadow Vault leader rose from the bed. With a light wave of his hand, my wrist transmitted severe pain—it was broken!

My wrist hung powerlessly, unable to grip the knife. It clattered to the ground.

He grabbed my hair viciously. "You really thought I was that stupid? I've been boss for so many years. How could I not distinguish blood from grass juice?"

I grimaced in pain. The surrounding rats, after fighting with guards, were few in number. But sensing my pain and anger, they all rushed at the Shadow Vault leader.

But before touching him, he swatted them meters away with one palm. They all fell dead.

The Shadow Vault leader laughed toward the sky. "I didn't expect you to have animal control abilities, just like your stubborn brother—a special constitution."

He suddenly crouched down, gently stroking my face, murmuring, "Tell me, if I drink your blood, won't I be able to control animals too?"

Strong unease rose in my heart. Just as he picked up a needle to draw my blood, a loud bang rang out.
