After Refusing to be Luna, I Marked the Alpha's Shadow Chapter 11
"A month ago?" Liam looked up sharply, his golden pupils constricting violently.
Maria said, "Yes. She told me that our Liam already had a mate in his heart, but it wasn't her."
She glanced at Chloe downstairs. "She said the person you like is Chloe, right?"
Harper knew he liked Chloe.
Liam suddenly thought of the scenes where he abandoned Harper for Chloe time and time again.
She knew all along. Yet he thought he was acting so well, like a clown.
He pressed his lips tight, saying nothing.
Maria said, "The engagement was set by your grandfather and the old Alpha Evans. We were worried you didn't like Harper. Seems we worried too much. Didn't you say you wanted to study in Europe? We'll go to the Evans house tomorrow to discuss you two going to Europe together."
Go to Europe together?
Liam looked at Chloe downstairs. His gaze darkened, like the calm before a storm. "Okay."
The next day, Evans Mansion.
Liam had the driver park the iconic stretch Lincoln at the street corner and switched to an ordinary sedan himself.
Before getting out, Liam whispered, "Don't tell the Evans family who I am yet."
Without waiting for his mother's answer, he got out.
Watching Maria's car enter the Evans gate, the Evans family came out to welcome them. Chloe dressed exceptionally beautifully today, wearing a sincere and brilliant smile—a smile directed at power.
Liam's chest felt blocked, like he swallowed a burning coal.
After Chloe helped Maria out of the car, seeing no one else emerge from the luxury car, she asked, "Did Liam not come today?"
Maria followed her son's wishes and smiled. "That child is a bit willful. He has personal matters. Don't mind him."
"How could I?" Chloe lowered her head, shyly. "I think Liam has a very Alpha personality."
This was nothing like the Chloe he usually saw.
Liam's hand by his side slowly clenched, nails digging into his palm. He walked out from behind. Chloe saw him, and her expression changed instantly, as if seeing a pile of trash.
Maria saw him too, thinking he was too shy to come over. She called out, "Look who's here..."
"It's my classmate!" Chloe interrupted in horror, afraid Liam would offend the guest. "Sorry, Auntie Maria. He stumbled in by accident. I'll take him away immediately!"
Liam looked at Chloe calmly. Chloe walked over quickly, dragged him, and walked out.
He didn't shake off her hand. They walked all the way to a corner of the garden where Maria couldn't see. Chloe let go, forced out a smile uglier than crying, and hissed in a low voice:
"Liam! What are you doing here? Are you a stalker?"
Liam said indifferently, "I came to talk to you about something. I..."
"Shut up!" Chloe interrupted, cold as ice. "If you want to confess, pick another time. I'm really busy today. I'm hosting the Blackwood family!"
Liam froze. His gaze swept over Chloe's stiff and fake face, and he suddenly laughed.
"Busy discussing marriage with the Blackwoods? Do you like that Alpha heir that much? Have you met him?"
The disdain in his tone stunned Chloe. She never thought this "poor boy" who was always subservient would dare speak to her like this.
"Liam isn't someone you can judge! Liam, I've given you face! If you keep pestering me, don't blame me for ignoring our classmate bond and calling security to throw you out!"
She turned to leave. Liam grabbed her wrist.
"Pestering? In your eyes, am I just being delusional and pestering you?"
Chloe looked at him and sneered. "What else? I wanted to save some face, but since you asked, I'll say it. Yes, in my eyes, you're just a simp chasing after me. Did you really think you were charming? If I didn't want to see Harper sad about her things being taken by me, I wouldn't even look at you!"
"Taken by you..." Liam's fingers tightened slowly, a trace of killing intent flashing in his eyes.
Chloe sneered. "What else? It's hilarious. Did you really think Harper, that half-breed, could bully me? For low-caste wolves like you and her, you're only fit to be toyed with by us. Now that she's gone, Liam, do you think you have any value to me?"
"A toad wanting to eat swan meat. Except for a fool like Harper, who would look at you twice? If you know what's good for you, get out! I'm going to marry into the Blackwood family and be Luna. Don't touch me with your dirty hands!"
She flung Liam's hand away forcefully, like touching a virus.
Liam watched in a daze as she wiped the spot he touched with disgust. His heart was a mix of flavors.
So, Harper, that "fool," was the only one who treasured him.
Just then, Maria walked over. "Why have you been talking for so long?"
"Auntie, why did you come over?"
Chloe panicked. She immediately hooked her arm through Maria's, her face changing speed astounding.
"This classmate just won't leave. I don't know which stray pack spawned him. No manners at all. I'll ask the butler to drag him out in a bit!"
