After Refusing to be Luna, I Marked the Alpha's Shadow Chapter 21
That punch carried pure physical strength. Liam stumbled back a few steps, crashing onto a car hood.
I was stunned. Liam was stunned too.
Coldness flashed in his eyes. Alpha instincts triggered, ignoring his injuries, he raised his hand to fight back.
Seeing a fratricidal war about to erupt, I quickly pulled Ethan away.
Not afraid they'd fight, just afraid Liam would be beaten to death. The current Ethan was like a furious beast.
I hugged Ethan's waist, feeling his muscles tight as rock. "What are you doing?"
Ethan was off since he appeared today. "What's wrong with you?"
Ethan pressed his lips tight, took something out of his jacket pocket, and threw it hard at Liam.
I looked. It was that yellowing diary.
Looking at Ethan's gloomy eyes, I couldn't help laughing. "Jealous?"
Ethan looked at me, eyes complex. "Not going to explain?"
"Explain what?" I said. "I said I once had a crush on him because of his face. Do you believe it? But later I fell for you because you are you."
Ethan said stiffly, "Don't believe it."
"That settles it. You know my mate is you."
I hugged Ethan's waist, cheek pressing against his warm chest. "You were so handsome today, Ethan."
Ethan's eyes darkened, body relaxing a bit. I touched Ethan's muscles through his clothes.
Usually, he looked lazy, but once in combat, that explosive power was charming as hell.
My heart raced, mind wandering. I heard Ethan's husky voice overhead. "Stop touching. We're outside."
I started. Ethan lowered his head wanting to kiss me, carrying a meaning of claiming sovereignty.
I pressed my hand on his lips, glancing at Liam who was covering his face, eyes murderous.
"There's someone here! And he's injured!"
Ethan kissed my fingertips, glancing coldly at Liam. "I'll deal with you when we get back."
Warm breath hit my palm. My face flushed, and I quickly pulled my hand back.
Ethan chuckled, turning to Liam, voice deep. "This is the first warning. Harass her again, and I don't mind making the Blackwood family change heirs."
Liam wiped the blood from his mouth, responding with a dark gaze. Two stares met in the air, neither backing down.
Hospital.
The werewolf doctor looked at Liam's injuries. "Except for the slap on the left cheek and the punch on the right, everything else is fine. Werewolf healing is good."
Maria said distressed, "That bastard Jason isn't good, hitting people in the face."
*Cough cough—* I choked.
Maria looked at me strangely but didn't think much of it. "Heard your boyfriend saved Liam. He's very strong? That mercenary group is tricky."
"Yeah," I replied. "He is the strongest."
Hand-to-hand combat wasn't Ethan's only strength. In the wild, he was a top tracker and sniper.
That time I visited his camp in the wilderness, he wore tactical camo, face painted, almost melting into the environment. But his eyes were bright, like stars in the night.
Reflecting only me.
My heart moved. I had an urge to go home and hug that big wolf dog immediately.
Maria said, "Thank him for protecting Liam today. Can I treat him... no, treat you both to a meal?"
"No need, Auntie Maria." I said, "He's used to being alone, doesn't like eating with stranger wolves. It's late, I'm going back."
Seeing my insistence, Maria didn't push. "Okay."
I smiled, turning to leave. Just grasping the doorknob, the door was pushed open forcefully from outside.
"Liam! Are you okay?"
Chloe rushed in, tear-stained. Seeing me, her eyes changed instantly, becoming vicious and sharp.
"Why are you here?"
She screamed, "You shameless woman, trying to seduce Liam again?"
