After Refusing to be Luna, I Marked the Alpha's Shadow Chapter 13
Texas, the wild southern ranch.
I finished a day of special training after sparring with a retired old Wolf King.
Ethan walked me out, passing through the log corridor filled with rugged atmosphere. The Texan sun was hot and unbridled, landing gently on Ethan's profile. His eyes were lowered, the mole under his eye appearing and disappearing under his long lashes.
Liam had a small mole under his eye too.
When I first met Liam, in a trance, I really thought I saw Ethan.
Liam's pretended fragility sometimes reminded me of Ethan's expression when he was hurt.
The softest spot in my youth, the one I didn't dare speak of because he was a "Rogue."
I stared, lost in thought. Ethan glanced sideways, with a wild aggressiveness. "Why are you looking at me?"
My ear tips turned red. I hurriedly turned my head. "Just wondering which academy you applied for."
Ethan said, "Royal Enforcer Academy in Europe."
I paused. "Why? Don't you hate those rules and regulations the most?"
I met Ethan in freshman year of high school. We were classmates for two years. He was the school's most troublesome delinquent until I was taken by the Evans family and we separated.
In those two years, Ethan always wanted to be a free mercenary.
I looked at Ethan in confusion. He looked at the desolate Gobi desert ahead, his voice deep. "Because my lost little wolf applied to that school."
I froze. "The little wolf... you like?"
Ethan looked back at me, the corner of his mouth curving into a bad-boy smile. It looked like he was looking at me, but also looking at that shadow through me. "Yeah. I've been thinking about her for a long, long time."
I clenched my hands, a trace of sourness rising in my heart. I took a deep breath, feigning calm.
"Does she know?"
Ethan smiled, his eyes becoming deep and dangerous. "She's a fool. And her taste wasn't great before. So, no."
Neither of us spoke again. With our own thoughts, we naturally didn't see someone in the bushes taking a photo.
New York, JFK Airport.
On the Blackwood family's private jet, Liam looked at the photo sent by the detective, his eyes cold enough to freeze.
That man... that man with the same face as him, but stronger, more dangerous.
Was that the legendary cursed twin brother? The Ethan who was supposed to be dead?
He put away his phone and got up to get off the plane. "Buy a ticket to Texas!"
The old butler immediately stopped him. "The Master said I must take you to the European branch today. You must complete four years of Alpha closed training there."
"I said I'm going to Texas." Liam's voice was cold. "I'm not going to Europe! That woman dared to treat me as a substitute!"
He had to ask clearly if Harper saved him back then because of Ethan.
No one had ever dared to treat him like this. No one dared to use him as a substitute and then flee.
How dare she? How dare she!
"It's not up to you." His father, Alpha Richard's voice, came from the video call, carrying unquestionable authority. "Making yourself look like a ghost over a romance! Tie him up! Knock him out if you have to and send him to Europe! Until he finishes training, he is not allowed to step foot in the Americas!"
The butler signaled the bodyguards. Several high-level enforcers pinned Liam down.
Unable to break free, Liam was injected with a sedative and dragged onto the plane.
He watched helplessly as the plane took off. The first second he got off the plane, he checked his phone. Seeing his accounts frozen by the family, he punched a stone pillar of the ancient castle.
The butler said, "Master said I am responsible for your life for these four years. You cannot return home or contact Miss Harper. After four years, once you pass the Alpha assessment, they won't care what you do."
Liam pressed his lips tight, looking toward the other side of the Atlantic, and slowly calmed down.
Four years. Harper, in four years, I will definitely find you.
