Seven Days Before the Apocalypse Chapter 5
"Open up! Rain, are you in there? I brought you food!" A voice called from outside.
I snapped out of my thoughts, pushing other matters aside.
When I opened the door, I found my other roommate, Grace Garcia.
Unlike Chelsea, if Chelsea was fake and manipulative, Grace was genuinely warm and helpful.
She was one of the few people at this university who'd been good to me.
Back then, when zombies were chasing us, Grace had pushed me to safety, sacrificing herself to the horde.
Thinking of this, tears welled up uncontrollably.
As Grace stood frozen, I threw my arms around her.
She gently patted my back, then carefully pushed me away after a long moment.
"You must be hungry. I brought your favorite—spicy chicken over rice."
The aroma made my mouth water.
I hadn't smelled anything this good in forever.
Without ceremony, I grabbed the container, set it on my desk, and devoured it.
Five minutes later, the container was nearly empty.
I looked up with a grin: "Grace, got any more?"
Seeing me act like I hadn't eaten in years, Grace looked concerned. "Rain, you already know?"
"Know what?" I paused with my chopsticks.
"Rain, stop pretending. Ryan Chase and Chelsea Quinn—they're a pair of cheating scumbags. Don't hurt yourself overeating because of them."
Grace thought I was crying over that, her eyes full of pity.
She told me she'd seen Ryan and Chelsea having lunch together today, acting intimate like a couple.
At first she thought she'd mistaken them, but after triple-checking, it was definitely them.
Looking at the photo Grace had taken of them together, I finally understood—Ryan and Chelsea had probably been involved for a long time.
My heart remained completely calm.
What did their relationship matter to me now?
I just wanted to survive the apocalypse.
"Actually, I..." The words "don't even care" hadn't left my mouth before Grace interrupted.
She patted my shoulder. "Don't be sad. From now on, your girl's got your back. Forget those cheaters."
In the end, Grace was the real friend.
I wanted to cry.
But there was no time.
If nothing changed, the zombie virus would break out tomorrow.
