Seven Days Before the Apocalypse Chapter 8

Thirty minutes later, the sky had turned completely blood-red.

With a piercing scream, the previously quiet campus descended into chaos.

The apocalypse had arrived on schedule.

Roars and screams filled our ears.

From the balcony, Grace and I watched the scene below with pounding hearts.

The usually kind dorm supervisor had become viciously feral, gripping a student's arm with deadly intent.

The student struggled desperately, but it was futile.

Her arm was torn off by the supervisor, then other students pounced, tearing and biting.

The dorm entrance was open—several students were rushing toward it.

But they were all intercepted by the blood-soaked supervisor, falling victim to her claws.

"Oh my God, Rain, this is terrifying." Grace clutched my arm tightly, her voice trembling.

To keep her from being so frightened, I led her away from the balcony back into the room.

The dorm's soundproofing was poor. We closed all doors and windows. Though we couldn't see outside anymore, the screams still reached us.

Even on the fifth floor, we could hear panicked footsteps and heavy pounding on doors.

Whether from zombies or humans, who could tell?

Minutes later, someone knocked on our door—503.

"Is anyone there? Open the door!" Chelsea's urgent voice came from outside.

I stood still, unmoved.

I'd have to be insane to save the person who'd pushed me to the zombies in my past life.

But this was still a human life. I wasn't sure what Grace thought, so I turned to her.

Grace seemed not to hear, casually munching on potato chips.

"Rain Hart, Grace Garcia, I know you're in there!"

Outside, Chelsea's voice continued nonstop, growing increasingly agitated.

"Damn it, are you even human? Leaving your roommate outside to die!"

"You bitches, scum..."

The knocking turned to kicking, then a scream—and silence.

We had to be grateful we'd barricaded the door with our beds earlier, escaping disaster.
