The Lycan Kings and the White Wolf. Chapter 35

Trixie's POV

"Betrayal," I say out loud.

"Look, Trix, I wasn't going to say anything, I probably shouldn't be, just keep an open mind, my dear, and hear me out, please," Leigha says.

A knock on the door interrupted us.

I walk to the door, and I open it slowly. All of a sudden, I'm hit with the most delicious scents I've ever smelled. Chocolate and coffee, and wait, another scent, chocolate and caramel. "Mates," Leigha purrs.

"What?" I say, pausing. "Open the door, my dear. Let them in. They have to talk with you." Leigha explains.

"Uh, hello, My Kings," I say as I bow.

"Leigha, are they both my mates?" I ask her as I'm standing there staring at the saddest and most hurt blue eyes ever.

“Yes, dear. Please hear them out." She says sadly. "Why is Caden so upset?" I ask her.

"He will explain," Leigha says as she retreats in my head.

Oh, my poor mate.

"No need to bow and be formal. I'm Coban, and he is my twin, Caden. Can we come in and talk?" Coban asks.

"Yes, my kings, sorry. Yes, Coban, Caden. Come on in." I say as I hold the door open for them to enter.

I walk over to the chair, and I motion to the sofa. "Would you two like to take a seat?" I ask them in a quiet and shy voice.

"Thank you, Trixie," Coban says as they take a seat across from me.

Damn, they really do look like Greek Gods. Their bodies are so muscular. You can tell they work out. Stop Trixie, I say to myself. They are here because they have something to say, not for me to stare at them and give them googly eyes.

"We're sorry to bother you, Trixie. We didn't want to meet you like this, under these circumstances." Coban says.

Oh no. They are going to reject me. I knew it. I knew that if I found my mates, they would be higher-ranked wolves and wouldn't want me. That's what this is about. They are here to reject me.

"Hey, hey, hey, calm down, sweetheart," Coban says.

"There's no need to worry. Something happened, we want to talk, that's all," he says.

"Wait. What. How did you?" I began to say as Coban smiles at me. What a beautiful smile. And his eyes. Their eyes. I shake my head at my thoughts.

"You're worried and scared. Your thoughts are all over the place," he says with a big smile covering his face.

"But, but how did you know?" I ask.

"Our bond, the mate bond," he says quietly.

Oh, I see.

Caden, ever since they came in and sat down, hasn't said a word. Coban has been doing all of the talking. He hasn't even looked at me. He looks at the floor.

I really hope he is alright. Seeing him like this really breaks my heart.

"So, we really didn't want to meet you like this, as I said. We were going to introduce ourselves to you at the ball tonight, but something happened, and we both thought it would be better to get it out there and talk about it." Coban says.

"Caden wanted to tell you himself, as you can see it's really bothering him." Coban finishes

I can't take it anymore. I have to go to him. I have to comfort him. I don't care what he did.

He is actually hurting.

I get up from my chair and walk to Caden. I kneel in front of him and grab both his hands in mine.

"Caden, hey, calm down. I promise you, whatever happened, it will be alright." I say softly to him with a smile.

"I wish it were that easy," he finally says as he looks up from the ground and into my eyes.

His eyes are beautiful. I can see all his pain, his guilt. I can feel what he feels. He truly is hurting. "It's one of our gifts," Leigha explains.

"Is it that easy?" I say back to him.

As I hold his hands and we look into each other's eyes, he tells me everything. He broke down in tears when he found out I felt the betrayal.

He keeps saying sorry. That he doesn't expect me to forgive him. I feel like my heart is going to break.

When he's done, I stand up and sit on his lap. I put one hand on his cheek and tilt his head to look at me.

"Hey, look at me," I say to him as he puts his arm around me to hold me safely in place.

"It's alright. I really do understand. We haven't met before now. Yes, you scented me, but this is new to the three of us. Please calm down. Please. It's hurting my heart to see you like this. I truly believe you won't ever betray me again. I see it in your eyes. I forgive you." I said quietly, almost in a whisper.

He wrapped both his arms around me, and we just sat there.

Neither of us wants to move.
