Lies and Funerals Under the Moon Chapter 15

Kate stared at him in disbelief. "Are you insane?"

Liam smiled.

He yanked the dagger out, blood splashing, and walked toward Kate step by step.

He acted like the person stabbed wasn't him.

When he reached her, he raised the dagger and stabbed his stomach again. Hard.

Kate screamed. "Ah!"

She stumbled back in panic.

Liam shook with pain, staring at her.

"I know. I cut you many times with a silver blade. You must have hurt more than me."

"Three months in the mines wasn't enough. It didn't cool your anger."

"Then stab me now, okay? Pay it all back."

"As long as you forgive me and come back to me... stab anywhere. Revenge however you want."

He looked at her humbly, his face splattered with his own blood, his eyes full of madness.

He held the dagger out to Kate.

Kate backed away, terrified, tears streaming down her face.

Looking at the unhinged Liam, she shook her head firmly despite the pain.

"Liam, we are past. I forgave you once. But proved you couldn't let Katrina go, and I can never trust you again."

"Once the mate bond is shattered, we can't go back to before."

"I have regrets too. I regret that such a beautiful past turned into an illusion I couldn't hold onto."

"But I never want to go back to being that person. The one who lay beside you but felt you were miles away. The one who promised to trust you but analyzed every expression, checking if you were seeing her..."

"I hate that paranoid, pathetic version of myself. So... absolutely, definitely, never again."

As Kate spoke, the light in Liam’s eyes faded bit by bit.

He realized it. No matter what, Kate wouldn't come back.

He looked at her with agony.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, Kate..."

"I ruined everything..."

Kate watched him weep. Before she could speak, a piercing scream tore through the air.

Kate frowned. At the elevator, she saw Katrina, whom she hadn't seen in six months.

Her belly was high—she looked about six or seven months pregnant.

Seeing the blood on Liam, she screamed and rushed to him.

"Liam! How did you get hurt like this?"

She snapped her head up to look at Kate, eyes full of jealousy and hate.

"It was you, right! You hurt him? You made him leave with nothing, got him exiled, isn't that enough? Now you stab him?"

She pulled out her phone with trembling hands. "I'm calling the police! I'm having you arrested!"

Kate watched her expressionlessly.

But Liam snatched the phone and smashed it on the ground.

"What are you doing here? My business with Kate has nothing to do with you!"

Katrina broke down.

"Nothing to do with me? I'm carrying your child! If you die, how will we live? Who will protect us?"

She rushed over, pressing her hands to his stomach wound.

Blood seeped through her fingers. Katrina cried hysterically.

"What is so good about Kate? You clearly fell in love with me. Why are you obsessed? Why chase her?"

She pointed a bloody finger at Kate.

"Look at her! She's so cold. She doesn't care about you! I'm the one by your side. Can't you just live a good life with me?"

"The baby and I need you. Did you think about how the baby will live without a father?"

Katrina wailed.

But Liam said stubbornly:

"When Kate left, you told me you were pregnant. I told you then... I won't acknowledge this child."

"My children can only be born from Kate. Go get rid of it now. It's not too late."
