Lies and Funerals Under the Moon Chapter 7
At the gate of the Alpha Mansion.
Liam helped Katrina out of the car.
Katrina had stayed with the healers for a week. Although Liam had pampered her, her face was still pale from blood loss.
Liam had his arm around her, and she leaned weakly against his chest, their posture intimate.
Looking up at the mansion, Katrina hid the triumph in her eyes and looked at Liam with feigned anxiety.
"Liam, maybe I should go back to my place? The Luna will be angry seeing me move in. I don't want to make things difficult for you."
Liam held her tighter.
"I already told her. From now on, the person I love isn't just her, but you too. You suffered so much. Whether she gets angry or cries, I won't let go of your hand again."
He led Katrina toward the house.
"Don't worry. She used to make scenes because I spoiled her. She did something wrong this time, and I taught her a lesson. She won't dare bully you again."
"When we see her, I'll make her apologize to you personally."
Katrina waved her hands with a smile. "No need, no need. As long as I can be by your side, a little grievance is nothing."
"It's normal for the Luna to be jealous and not accept me. After all, I have your love."
She tried to control it, but smugness leaked from her brows.
Liam felt a strange discomfort seeing her so satisfied.
But he quickly pushed that feeling aside and pushed the door open.
He raised his voice, looking inside with some expectation. "Kate!"
The house was empty.
Kate, who usually sat on the sofa reading and drinking tea, was nowhere to be seen.
For a full week, while he stayed by Katrina’s side, Kate hadn't sent a single text or call.
He guessed she was sulking, so he purposely didn't contact her either.
He scanned the mansion, then headed for the bedroom.
Just as he was about to go upstairs, a figure walked out of the bedroom.
It wasn't Kate. It was the maid.
She was holding a duster, cleaning. Seeing Liam, she hurriedly greeted him. "Alpha, you're back."
She glanced at Katrina standing next to him.
Liam frowned. "This is Katrina. She will be living here from now on. You will treat her with the same respect you show Kate."
The maid was stunned. She dropped her duster.
He brought the mistress home?!
She snapped back to reality. "Yes, Alpha."
Liam looked toward the bedroom. "Is Kate resting?"
The maid shook her head frantically. "No. The Luna hasn't been home for a week."
Liam froze. "What? Where did she go?"
The maid looked confused. "I... I don't know. A few days ago, someone came to pick up some things for her, and they left in a hurry. The Madam hasn't returned herself."
Katrina stepped in at the right moment, holding Liam’s arm.
"Liam, what's going on? If the Luna hasn't been back for so long, where could she be?"
Liam felt a tightness in his chest, a sudden panic rising.
Forget a week—since they mated, Kate had never stayed out all night without a word.
Liam suddenly remembered the scene when he last saw Kate.
His face went pale. Regret washed over him.
He had been too angry because of Katrina’s injury.
And Kate was stubborn, refusing to say where Katrina was.
That was why, in a fit of rage, he used the silver blade to force the address out of her.
Later, anxious to find Katrina, he kicked her out of the car.
Kate was right in front of the Healer's lodge. She definitely wouldn't have been in real danger...
Even as he comforted himself, his heart raced.
He let go of Katrina, pulled out his phone, and dialed Kate.
The call didn't even ring. A robotic voice answered immediately.
"The number you have dialed is not in service..."
