Lies and Funerals Under the Moon Chapter 9

Katrina paused, then spoke cautiously.

"Liam, I unpacked everything. I had the cook make your favorite dishes. When are you coming home?"

Liam frowned but eventually said, "I'm coming now."

He turned the car around.

Maybe Kate is just really angry. Once she cools down, she'll come home.

He arrived back at the mansion shortly.

Inside, Katrina welcomed him happily.

Liam’s face changed instantly when he saw her clothes and jewelry.

Katrina was wearing Kate's evening gown and wearing Kate's necklace.

His face turned incredibly dark.

"Take it off!"

Katrina went pale. Tears welled up.

"Liam, I'll take it off. I've just never seen such nice things. The tag wasn't even cut off, so I thought the Luna didn't like it..."

This time, her tears didn't soften him.

His eyes were cold. "Taking without asking is stealing. Even if Kate doesn't like it, you can't just take her things."

Trembling, Katrina took off the dress and threw it on the floor.

She cried, looking at him. "It's just a dress. Is this necessary?"

She thought that since he brought her home after the "injury," her status had changed.

But he was exploding over a dress?

Katrina didn't feel sorry. She felt wronged.

"Yes, I'm a thief. I shamelessly stole you."

"I admit it, I'm jealous of her. I'm jealous she has your love and attention."

"Even now that you say you love me and brought me home, I don't feel safe."

"I'm not lucky like Kate, born to be a Luna. Everything I have, I had to fight for."

"I'm just unlucky. I don't think I did anything wrong!"

In the past, when Katrina gave this speech, Liam would agree and feel sorry for her.

He thought Kate was indeed lucky to have him, while Katrina had to rely on herself.

But his indulgence of Katrina was built on the foundation of Kate being by his side.

Liam rubbed his temples, exhausted. His voice was cold.

"Go back to your apartment for now. Kate is refusing to come home out of anger. If she comes back and sees you here, she'll be upset."

Katrina’s face went white.

She hadn't even stayed a full day, and he was kicking her out?

She thought getting hurt would shift his heart completely to her.

Why... why was Kate winning just by disappearing for a few days?

Hate and jealousy filled Katrina’s eyes. She was about to lose it when the doorbell rang.

Liam paused and walked over quickly.

A delivery courier stood outside. "Hello, I have a cash-on-delivery document for you."

A sense of foreboding rose in Liam. He almost didn't want to take it.

Thinking it might be from Kate, he paid and opened it.

The next second, he froze, staring at the red seal of the Alpha Council.

Katrina, seeing his expression, leaned in to look.

Her face lit up with joy. She gasped.

"Kate dissolved the partnership with you?!"
