Her body trembled uncontrollably, her hands ice cold from shock.

Ryder hugged her tight. "Don't be scared. Evil people live longest."

Kate calmed down a bit and called the former Luna.

Hearing Liam was hurt, his mother cried. "I'm coming."

Liam was in surgery for hours due to multiple wounds.

Katrina had only been stabbed once, non-fatally, but because she was pregnant, the situation was critical.

To save her life, the doctors performed an emergency C-section.

The premature baby was in danger.

Both stayed in surgery for over ten hours before moving to the ICU.

The former Luna and Liam’s father arrived the next day. They looked ten years older.

Especially the former Luna—she looked broken.

They greeted Kate briefly and stood guard outside the ICU.

Once Liam was out of danger, the former Luna finally relaxed.

Kate helped her sit on a bench.

After she calmed down, Kate explained what happened.

The former Luna cried. "Kate, I'm sorry. I... I gave Liam your address."

Kate had guessed.

Only a few people knew. And Liam was her son. It was natural she would soften.

"Six months ago, when you left, I found out Liam hurt you for that woman. I was furious. I didn't blame you for sending him to exile."

"But he is my son. I couldn't bear to see him suffer in the mines. So I begged you to drop the charges."

"I didn't expect him to be so stubborn, searching for you everywhere. I didn't know Katrina was pregnant."

"Kate, I really wanted you as my daughter-in-law. Seeing him so depressed, looking for you... I thought he truly regretted it, so I told him."

No one expected Liam to seek forgiveness in such a radical way.

Or that he would stab a pregnant woman.

The former Luna grabbed Kate’s hand, begging.

"Kate, please. Can you give Liam another chance for the sake of the past?"

"He really knows he was wrong this time."

Ryder, standing nearby, tensed. Kate glanced at him to stay calm.

She looked at the former Luna and slowly pulled her hand back.

"Mrs. Blackwood, exactly because our past was beautiful, I couldn't let go. I loved him, resented him, and still chose to forgive him."

"But during those months he was back, we weren't happy. I kept wondering if he was thinking of her, if he was cheating again..."

Kate smiled bitterly.

"I'm not as generous as I thought."

"And now? If I soften and forgive him again... after the scars heal, can we really go back?"

"If he meets another girl he likes later, will he do it again?"

"Who guarantees he won't meet the next Katrina?"
