My foot hadn't even left the threshold when one of them stopped me: "Mr. Davis, you cannot leave the hospital."

"Clara sent you?"

Neither man spoke or objected.

"Restricting my personal freedom like this is illegal! If you don't want this to blow up, you'd better let me out."

"Mr. Davis, we're just following orders. We hope you can understand our position."

Ha, now they're trying moral coercion!

I retreated to my room and called Clara.

But her assistant answered, saying Clara was in a meeting.

Just as I was about to force my way out, Mason walked in carrying a fruit basket.

"Heard you were sick, so I specially bought some fruit to visit you."

After Mason placed the basket on the table in front of me, I picked it up and threw it on the floor.

"Get out."

"Whoa, don't be so touchy! This is me being considerate."

Not wanting to waste words with Mason, I headed toward the door.

As I passed by Mason, he said quietly: "Heard you're dying soon. If possible, I hope you can die far away from here."

After breaking out of the hospital, I first contacted my editor to confirm the signing event, then began arranging to transfer my mother to another nursing home.

After this signing was over, I planned to take my mother and move to another city.
