Orphaned Without Refuge Chapter 8
After hearing the doctor's answer, I decided to forgo surgery. I didn't want to gamble on that success rate—it was far too low.
After leaving the hospital, I'd originally planned to visit my mother at the nursing home, but because I received a call from Clara's father, I reluctantly changed my plans.
Arriving at Clara's father's house, I found he'd only called me alone.
"Dad, did you need me for something?"
"Levi, I heard you and Clara argued again recently. This time you even moved out. Why are you two fighting so badly again?"
Although Mr. Chen's words were gentle, his eyes revealed his displeasure.
"Dad, I want to divorce Clara." I forced myself to answer.
Mr. Chen first took a sip of tea, then slowly said: "It's because of Mason, isn't it? I'll handle Mason's situation. This time I won't let him appear before Clara again."
"Levi, I watched you grow up, so entrusting Clara to you gives me the most peace of mind. Clara was wrong about Mason's matter, and I'll talk to her properly afterward. I hope you can forgive her one more time for my sake."
Before I could respond, Mr. Chen changed the subject: "I heard you recently made a will. Is there a problem with your health?"
Mr. Chen's words startled me—I didn't expect him to know about this too.
"It's not a big problem." I answered vaguely.
"Health issues can't be ignored. Focus on your health first. I'll handle everything else."
Before leaving, Mr. Chen gave me a doctor's business card.
Seeing the doctor's specialty on the card, I figured Mr. Chen had some understanding of my condition.
After this conversation, my heart wavered again.
Not because of Clara, but because of Mr. Chen.
