CHAPTER 1 - THE ONE WITH THE RED DOOR 1.3
'I immediately shut my mouth and turned to the woman who called me. 'She's wearing a white fitted dress over a black blazer. | 'can say that this woman is in her mid 40's. She has short blonde hair and even though she has wrinkles on her face, she still looks beautiful. Aside from that, even though she's smiling at me, she looks really intimidating.
Wait a minute...
"D-Dahlia?"
Her smile grew wider as a confirmation that she's Dahlia.
"Yes, Ms. Parker. Welcome to Arentsvelt's Mansion. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." she formally introduced herself and shook my hand.
My heart suddenly started beating faster and I became even more nervous. Gosh! She's even more intimidating in person.
"It's nice to finally meet you too."
"You're 15 minutes early. That's a good way of setting a first impression. 'Come with me so we can start the interview." she said and started walking, so I followed her. We walk the grand staircase while my eyes were very restless as if exploring every corner of the mansion.
Last time I checked, the net worth of Mr. Eros Arentsvelt, the head of the family, is in the billion dollars. So it's no wonder that his house is this big.
I kept remembering Luna, Riley, and mom. My assuming brain wanted to bring them here one day. Before I could even imagine it, I immediately imagined it. I felt like when I brought them here, mom and Riley would be taking selfies at every corner.
While going up, we met a maid who Dahlia had ordered to bring us food to the room where she would interview me. She even asked me what | I wanted. She didn't give me 'options. What if I said duck stew or bone broth? Hehe, I'm already a little hungry. I haven't had lunch yet.
| simply answered whatever. She ordered the maid to bring tea and cake. I don't drink tea, I haven't made coffee yet. But of course, I didn't demand it.
We arrived in front of a door on the third floor. I’m standing behind her. When Dahlia tried to open the door, it didn't open. She suddenly shook her head and asked.
"Who locked this?" she asked.
I don’t know.
'She faced me with disappointment in her face.
"I'm so sorry, Ms. Parker. I didn't expect the door to be locked. We usually leave this room unlocked. The key is on the first floor. I will come down with you. Just give me a few minutes, I'll just get the key and I'll use the elevator to go fast. Is it okay if I ask you to wait here?"
"Of course. I'll wait here."
“Thank you, Ms. Parker. Just give me 5 minutes." she said and hurriedly walked into the elevator.
I wonder if there's an elevator? Then they made me take the stairs?
I remained standing where Dahlia left me. But because I am an inborn curious person, I walked closer to the railings. I bent down and peered down. From where | stand, I could see the first floor. I saw Dahlia exit the elevator and was already on the first floor. She easily entered a room downstairs.
Seriously, I still can't get over the beauty of this mansion. If I owned it, I would make the floor on the first floor thick with uratex foam. So you can jump from top to bottom, face first.
Just a thought. I laughed at my own brain. That's why the Lord doesn't give us mansions.
I lifted my head and was a bit dizzy after leaning against the railings for a long time. The first thing that caught my eye was the large door on the other side of where I was standing now.
A red door…
Almost all the doors we passed were brown or white, this one was the only one that was different in color. It's also the biggest door I've seen. in this mansion so far. For some inexplicable reason, I kept staring at that door. The carpet was the same color as the door. It looked like the. fabric of the carpet itself was wrapped around the door. Then the two handles were gold. It's a double type door. Almost all the doors here are double type.
It felt like some weird energy was pulling me, telling me to go near that door. I stood up straight and looked back at the door where Dahlia had entered. It looked like she was still looking for the key.
'My stubborn mind, it keeps telling me to come to the red door.
Then so started walking. Slowly slowly. | want to know what's behind that doo—
"Ms. Parker?"
I quickly stopped walking and looked at Dahlia. Shit, she was back. Less than 5 minutes. I didn't even hear the elevator ring. Luckily she was back before I even left the interview room.
“Are you going somewhere?” she asked. She must have noticed me walking away.
I looked straight into her eyes.
You're too much of an idiot, Sky. Go ahead, you haven't even been interviewed yet, you'll be kicked out of here right away.
"I'm just checking the place"
For some reason, Dahlia did not speak immediately. She looked at me intently. Then suddenly, felt chills all over my body.
I kept staring at Dahlia, but | can feel something...
…Something unexplainable'
"The Feeling of someone's staring at you from behind.
Dahlia broke her gaze from me and looked in another direction. | saw Dahlia's reaction changed. She seemed to be—surprised? A quick flash of shock, but it quickly disappeared. I followed where her eyes landed.
Dahilia's looking at the red door. The big red door that was previously closed is now slightly open. | can feel it. I know for myself that whoever was looking at me earlier was standing at the red door. But no one's there. Just a slightly opened door.
Weird…
"We should get inside Ms. Parker, so we can start the interview."
I looked at Dahlia again, who was smiling at me again now. She also came to the interview room and inspected it.
“What's behind that red door?” asked my stupid mouth, suddenly asking something. Later, I thought about it, I was being very intrusive.
She stopped checking but remained in his position and didn't look at me.
"T-that's a room where no one's allowed to go inside. It’s the most prohibited area in this mansion. No one's allowed to go there, unless 'she asks you to...” he answered as if mixed with nervousness.
'She? Who's she?'
As far as I can remember, Mr. Eros Arensvelt's wife is dead. His wife, Tamara Arensvelt died 3 years ago. Someone murdered her. According to the news, it's a mafia boss who has a personal grudge in the family.
At first I thought it was Mr. Eros's room.
I was about to ask who he was referring to.
Before | could open my mouth to ask, suddenly a loud crash sounded behind us. We both looked in the direction of the red door. It was closed again.
What the fuck? Someone slammed the door. Why did the door slam?
“Who did—”
“Ms. Parker, please get inside and let's start your interview." Dahlia interrupted what I was about to say and went inside first.
'She looks nervous. Her intimidating composure from earlier is gone.
I took one last look at the red door and followed Dahlia, and I might get yelled at for asking this question.
Upon entering, Dahlia immediately closed the door, but my mind was still on the red door.
Fuck that red door! My instincts are telling that there's something...
…Something I should know behind that. Please, cctv of the year.
And who slammed that door?
