Mistake With The Alpha Chapter 38

Samantha's POV

　　Ever since Jaylen found his mate, I've been a total mockery in the pack, especially the pack house. All the ladies were just getting their entertainment from me. Some men do, though they don't seem to be too aggressive like the ladies. They call me all sorts of names and there's no day they won't taunt me.

　　When I went to visit my mother, she told me to just ignore them. They are just jealous that the Alpha doesn't look at them at all. Although I tried to be strong, this issue is still a pain in my ass. I didn't let anyone know that their words affected me. I endured all that because I don't want Jaylen to interfere in any of this issue. I don't want him to be unhappy. I want him to enjoy his new found life and I want his mate to enjoy him like I did.

　　I've not seen Jaylen since the last time and I'm sure to avoid him at all costs. Fortunately, Jaylen himself is super busy. He's always at the construction site. It's so hard for me not to see him because I miss him so much. I miss his laughter, his smiles, his compliments. I miss Jay like.......... I can't even explain it. Sometimes it feels like I should run to his room and cry in his arms but I'm enough of a mockery in this pack. Adding others will kill me.

　　Velvet and Susan have been good roomies. They were the only ones who wouldn't mock me but console me. They would even fight those that say bad things to me. Most times I'll be the one telling them not to fight.

　　As I was heading to the kitchen to start my day's job, I saw John and two of his friends on the way. They were looking at me as if they were there to wait for me. I didn't even did as if I saw them, talk more of saying hi to them. I didn't mind how they were looking at me. If they want to laugh they should laugh. I don't bloody care. I know all the will pass. It's just a matter of time.

　　Susan joined me in the way as I went. She then begins to talk about how she mistakenly used her shampoo to bathe. I was smiling at her. Susan has little issues with her eyes and most of the time if she's not with her lense, she would mistake a lot of things for each other. As we went we saw our future Luna. I was so jealous of her. She was moving with so much regal and I tried not to raise my nose.

　　It was just like she knew who I was, she looked at me with disgust and didn't even reply to our greeting.

　　"Why is your dress this short?" She asked me crudely.

　　I looked up at her and didn't say anything. What do I have to say, she's the Luna after all. But how did she pick on me? My dress is not even short. Susan's dress is still shorter than mine. I know she would have heard about me, for her to say such a thing.

　　"I must not see you in this dress again. You are here to work not to sleep with males around here" she said authoritatively and walked away.

　　I looked at her and said nothing. If it had been before I would have almost cried but now I just shrugged and started to leave. Even Susan didn't say anything. She only gave me a don't mind her look.

　　"Sally sent for you" a guard whom I met on the way informed me.

　　I didn't know if the guard was deliberately coming to fetch me or he was passing by but I wondered why Sally was calling me this early morning. It's unlike her. I'm so sure I've not committed any crime to be summoned. Sally too is another person who's not making fun of poor me. And that's because she didn't act as if she heard a thing that happened. I then walked to her office and knocked.

　　"Who's there?" I heard her firm elderly voice.

　　" Sam," I replied.

　　"Come in," she replied.

　　I entered to see her table that is normally filled with papers, and was filled with food. It wasn't just one food. It was a variety of food, as if she was going into a food contest. I was so curious to know what was going on.

　　"Sally" I greeted politely.

　　For a few seconds she didn't say a thing. She was just looking at me blankly. I then wondered what was happening to Sally.

　　"Sally, are you alright?" I asked with concern.

　　She then blinked and looked at me. " I'm fine," she said casually.

　　I didn't seem to believe her. Sally might not be the playing type but she's not one that brood.

　　"Come seat, let's eat together" she said.

　　I widened my eyes as if I didn't hear her right. The Sally I know never does anything else on duty. She makes everything she does perfect and timely. In our normal routine, we would be working so hard. It's not even time for our breakfast. How did she have so much food on her table? So her asking me to eat was debatable.

　　"I need a talk buddy" she said with a stiff butter smile.

　　Upon hearing this, I got more serious and quickly sat down. Sally is not someone that talks to anyone. She might be going through a lot for her to say she needs a talk buddy. Sally is a good person and a mother figure to me. I'll do anything she asks of me.

　　"Are you feeling well?" I asked her.

　　She smiled at me. "I'm fine Sam and are you?" She asked.

　　"Yes I am," I replied quickly.

　　Although I might not be fine, I think Sally needs my attention today rather than I should be brooding.

　　"Are you sure?" She asked.

　　I then nodded and gave her one of my charming smiles.

　　"You are a strong girl Sam. We might plan a thing and that wouldn't work the way we want it" she said looking at me.

　　I wondered why she's saying this but I didn't say anything.

　　"When my mate died, it was a pain in my heart but what could I have done? I have to endure the pain till I master it....." She paused.

　　" I'm so sorry for your loss" I said with pity.

　　" I didn't tell you so you could sympathize with me. You know it's not bad to let out the pain sometimes but just don't let the pain eat you up" she said again and now I understood what she's trying to say.
